Happy Easter!

| March 30, 2013

Happy Easter everyone! This is the dress that Sam picked out all by herself for Easter. I think she looks so amazingly grown up, and so beautiful.

Look at the smile!

Sam has so many expressions. In some, she looks so innocent, like my little baby girl again, and this is one of them.

Sam wanted to go outside to take some pictures, but on the day we took these, it was cold, as you can see.

A sweater! Now that’s better! The smiles are back!

Back inside for one final picture, with our other little girl, Zephyr. Sam loves her kitty so much.

Pictures from Easter morning will be coming soon!

Here comes the Easter Bunny!

| March 28, 2013

Sam has never wanted to see the Easter Bunny. He seems to scare her and frankly, it was never a big deal to me, so I didn’t push it. I am just happy I get great Santa photos now. Last year, she seemed more interested, but at the last minute, totally chickened out. This year, my mom had her at the mall and Sam told her that she wanted to see the Easter Bunny. My mom said she’d take her and surprisingly, Sam was all for it. She waited in line for her turn, and when it was her turn, she walked right up to him and let him pick her up. No big smiles, but she wasn’t scared at all! Great job, Sammy! I am sure you will get the biggest basket of all now!

An Original in Orange

| March 14, 2013

Sam already picked out her own Easter dress this year while we were at Target (no sneak peeks of that dress, you have to wait until Easter!), but when I was at Carter’s a few weeks ago, I saw the most perfect dress for her to wear. I couldn’t resist buying it and figured I’d find an occasion for Sam to wear it. As I posted before, we were taking her Easter pictures recently and we asked her if she wanted to do more photos in a pretty dress. She excitedly said yes and happily got dressed. It was so cute. She was smiling like crazy and kept saying she looked like a princess. We agreed that she looked like the most beautiful princess ever.

Here is one of the first pictures. She wouldn’t let go of the little cat puppet.

This one shows the impishness on her face that is ever present in her personality.

She kept her arms around her back in a lot of the pictures. Mark and I thought she looked like she was trying to put on a typical model pose.

It amazes me how in some pictures she looks so sweet and innocent and young…

…and in the next looks so grown up. This is one of our favorites.

I love when Sam smiles because her smiles can light up a room, but I also love her more serious, pensive looks.

But yeah, the smiles are the best!

And the outright giggles are even better!

It was almost impossible for us to decide which pictures we liked the best. She was such a good model and gave us so many wonderful expressions.

I could look at her all day long. It still amazes Mark and I that we created such an amazing child.

We really try to not focus on her looks when we talk to her because she has so many wonderful qualities. I am always telling her how smart, how funny, how caring she is.  How clever and and talented.  But we also tell her how pretty she is, because, well, she is. And I think it is important for a little girl to feel pretty. I just try to not focus on it as being the most important thing. I know that in some ways life will be easier for her because she is pretty but I want her to think of her looks as an afterthought. Something she is lucky she has, but not essential.

One final shot…our cheeky girl! She is going to be a heartbreaker someday!

Family Photos

| April 9, 2012

Here are some family photos taken right before we went out to dinner on Easter.

Sam  is hugging the many, many “squishies” that Grandmom and Poppy brought over.  I don’t even know how to describe these little things, but they squish, hence the name, and she loves them.

With Mommy and Daddy all dressed up for the night.

Sam found it great fun to jump off of our lawn and onto the sidewalk.  She did it a million times.  You would have thought she was jumping off a mountain for how much fun she was having.  We love this picture of her, her little feet off the ground, hair blowing in the wind.  She is just being a kid, and I love it.

Oh, and one final awesome note – I have been trying to teach her the name of our street for a long time now, since way before she could even talk. I always say as we are driving home, “ok, Sam, here we are, A*** Road, that’s where we live” and I try to get her to repeat it. She has had a hard time pronouncing it much less remembering it.  Anyway, she has gotten a lot better at saying it lately.  On the way home from dinner with my parents Mark said, “we’re home, Sam, this is our street” and I asked her what street we live on and she said it!  Clear as a bell and immediately.  We were all so shocked and so proud of her.  (By the way, I am not saying the name of our street, because, well, it is the Internet and you just never know, hence my cryptic note here….)

Gotta Love That Easter Bunny!

| April 8, 2012

Easter morning was a very exciting time in our house.  The Easter Bunny came!  We told Sam she had to look around to see where he hid her basket because he’s a sneaky bunny and you never know where it is going to be.  Sam looked all over our kitchen and our dining room.  We told he to go ask Zephyr if she knew where it was.

Success!

That’s a pretty full basket for a little girl, but she was very anxious to bring it over for us to see.

One of the first words out of her mouth was “candy”!  She liked looking in all the plastic eggs to see what treats were left for her.  The Easter Bunny must know that Hershey Kisses are one of her favorites.

She got a lot of Rosalind chocolate too and some jelly beans.  You can see her cheek is stuffed full of candy in this picture.

The Easter Bunny always leaves toys too.  She got a wooden snake, a flute, some egg shaped sidewalk chalk, some Elmo socks and a few books with paints.

Daddy was the primary egg opener so he got a thank you kiss.

Oh yes, and stickers.  That Bunny knows Sam loves stickers!

Mark asked her to smile nicely so that we could get a good picture together and instead we got her putting her fingers in her ears and sticking out her tongue.  Mark taught her that – they do it out the window to each other, but it is the first time she ever started doing it on her own.  She cracks me up.

Happy Easter!
