Egg Hunt!

| April 25, 2011

On Saturday, we went over to Mark’s parents’ house so that Sam and Maddox could have an Easter egg hunt.  It was kind of a rainy, miserable day so the hunt wound up indoors, but it probably was for the best.  Sam and Maddox are so little that having them run around outside trying to find eggs would have been tough.  As it was, even indoors, we had to sort of “help” them find the eggs.

Before the egg hunt started, Sam wanted to play the piano.  She loves doing it and makes a beeline over there as soon as she can.  She did play for a little while, then Maddox joined her.  Sam actually didn’t mind, but this picture would lead you to believe she was not happy!  I love the look on her face, little arms crossed like she is saying, “Hey!  I was playing the piano!”   Her expressions crack me up.

She let Mommy sit with her and play for a while.  Of course, it would help if I knew what I was doing.  I have no musical talent, but I guess I could learn to plink out a few tunes for Sam.

The Easter egg hunt begins!  Here is Sam with some of her findings.  Her favorite eggs had Goldfish pretzels in them.

The happy mommies and their little ones. 🙂

Happy Easter!

Happy belated Easter everyone!  Here are some pictures of Sam in her Easter finery.  This year, Mark picked out Sam’s dresss. I just loved it.  It is such a typical Easter outfit for a little girl, all frilly and dressed up.  For whatever reason, Sam hated it!  She made us crazy trying to get her picture.  Every time we would put it on her, she’d cry and yell and try to pull it off.  She has never done that before with any item of clothing.  It is really a shame, because the dress is so gorgeous and she looked adorable it in.  We did manage to distract her enough to get her to smile a little so we could get a few pictures last week.

Sam wasn’t sure what was going on with the plastic eggs in the yard, but she appeared to be disappointed that they were empty.

This is one of the only shots we got of her standing up so you could see her whole outfit.

And, here come the tears!  Look how mad she looks!  Yup.  This was pretty much the whole time.  Oh well, there’s always next year.  Maybe she can pick out her own dress next spring.

Finally, one last very important picture — the Easter Bunny and his assistant.  It was a close call getting this picture since they tried to scamper away, but we managed to get a quick glimpse!

Happy Easter!

Today is Samantha’s first Easter!  We, of course, needed to document it with pictures taken in my basement photo studio.  Sam loves getting her picture taken and always hams it up for the camera.  She started to smile and kick as soon as Pam brought her down the stairs when she saw everything set up.

Sam seems to really enjoy celebrating each holiday, even though she never really knows what is going on.  She just loves our excitement and all the new things that go along with the day.  She has two dresses for Easter because we couldn’t quite decide which she was going to wear.  Truthfully, we didn’t know how well either dress would work out since the weather hasn’t been all that warm, but nature cooperated and gave us bright, warm, sunny days so she could wear her sundresses.  Here is the first dress that Pam got at Carter’s months ago.  She has been dying for Sam to wear it.  We like her little sun hat too.  She wears it a lot since she doesn’t seem to like having the sun right in her face.

Here is a picture of Sam’s Easter basket.  We ordered some chocolate bunnies and a chocolate cat from Rosalind’s, which is a chocolate store out near Pittsburgh that has been owned and run by part of my family for years.  My Easter basket every year when I was a kid was full of Rosalind’s which is the best chocolate I know of.  Since Sam is too little to eat her chocolate, she nicely said that Pam and I could eat it for her ; )  She also had a book, some plush peeps, some blocks, and some bubbles.  Sam had a lot of fun pulling everything out of the basket and then promptly shoving it in her mouth.  You can just see how excited she is in this picture.

This is the second dress we bought for Easter.  We think it’s really cute because it looks really old-fashioned.  A very classic look for our beautiful baby. She just keeps smiling even through her wardrobe changes!

We can’t wait until she is big enough to do an Easter egg hunt, and to really appreciate the idea of the Easter bunny.  But for now, we are just enjoying Sam when she is so little, and so cute, and just enjoying exploring everything new.  Happy Easter, everyone!

PS: This new blue background I’m using would also look great for a boy! For instance, a special young nephew of mine 😉
