We got the call today about the results of our first trimester screening – our risk for Down’s dropped from 1 in 140 (standard for my age group) to 1 in 4,500 and risk for Trisomy 18 is only 1 in 10,000! These are great, great results!! For the first time since I found out I was pregnant, I actually feel like I can relax. Mark and I are now shouting from the rooftops that I am having a baby!

Today is our first trimester screening where we are tested for our risk of the baby having Down’s Syndrome or Trisomy 18. It is such a nerve-racking day. The only upside is that we get yet another ultrasound when they will look for the nucheal translucency. Thank God Dr. Bailey already told us at our last appointment that he sees it and the measurement looks good. That helps. More bloodwork for me – Yippee!! Please note my sarcasm….
This ultrasound photo was shocking! We can’t believe how much our baby now looks like, well….a BABY! It’s only been 2 weeks since we saw the little Munchkin last.
The NT scan showed at 1.6 which is awesome. The little bean is 7.4cm now.

Back at the OB again, only 2 weeks later. Dr. Bailey is great and is letting me come back quickly because he knows how nervous we are. Gotta love a doctor who will cater to your neuroses
Baby is 3.91cm (growing fast) with a heart rate of 169 beats per minute. I swear it’s a girl, because the old wives tale says fast heartbeats are girls, but who knows….
In the first photo, you can see the little bean’s arms.
And in the next, baby’s face. I think I am carrying an alien!
