Sam’s latest doctor’s appointment

| October 24, 2009

Yesterday, Sam had her 1-month visit with the pediatrician.  Everything went well (she cried the whole time, of course because she had to have her clothes off).  She weighs 8 pounds 2 ounces now, and has grown 1/2 inch to 21 inches.  All in all she is growing on schedule and the doctor said she looks great.  Her next visit is her 2-month appointment where she gets her first shots : (  I am not looking forward to that one…..

As a side note, we got her social security card in the mail a few days ago.  Now she can get a job : )  Although she likes to sleep so much, I don’t know how cooperative she would be for a commercial.  My mom suggested she could be in ads for crib mattresses.  Now THAT I think she could handle.

New pics of Samantha

Here are some new pictures of Sam from a few days ago.  Sam is in her bouncer seat here, which she really likes a lot.

The next two pictures were taken after her bath.  She still really hates getting a bath — I am still giving her sponge baths instead of putting her in a tub because she just screams so much.  The only part of it she likes is after I am done when I wrap her in a huge towel and cuddle with her.  After her last bath (and towel-wrapped cuddle) I couldn’t decide what to put her in, clothing-wise, so I thought maybe she’d enjoy hanging out in her robe and slippers — boy did she like it, as you can see!  She took a nice long nap in her crib.

Sam explores her career options

| October 19, 2009

Today I took Sam into SAP to meet Mark for lunch.  He wanted to introduce her to a few of his co-workers.  Jenn and Dee just oohed and aahhed all over her, which, of course, they should!  Although Mark had Samantha working furiously on his laptop, she isn’t sure IT is the field for her….

We had a nice lunch in the cafeteria, although Sam stuck to her bottle instead of the usual selections : )  I can’t wait to bring her into my office so she can see where I work too.  I do miss my friends, and it will be fun to introduce her to everyone.  I will recommend to her to NOT work in the law field, no offense to anyone intended…..

Thanks for dinner!

My Mom stopped over today to make us dinner which was really nice. Krista stopped  by as well which gave us an opportunity to get a phtos of the kids together with the proud grandparents!

Sam and Maddox are friends : )

| October 18, 2009

The last time Mark’s sister, Krista, brought Maddox over for a visit, we were all a little disappointed that they showed no interest in each other at all.  We really thought they’d find the other baby really interesting.  Well, I guess maybe they both just needed to get a little older, because when Krista came over today, what a difference!  Mark’s parents were here too, so we decided to try to take some pre-Halloween photos of the both of the babies, and we were so pleased at how much they interacted!  Here are some new photos of Sam and her cousin, Maddox.

Ok, so maybe they don’t exactly seem interested in each other here, but at least they are together!

We like to think of it not so much as slumping over, but hugging : )

Eventually, though, they got the gist that this should be considered a playdate of sorts and they need to get to know each other.  First they started out by just looking at each other, then they were actually trying to hold hands.

Maddox was polite, and offered Sam his thumb.  He told her it is a rather good thumb, that he uses it often.

You can imagine how hard we all laughed when Sam said, hey thanks!  and decided to suck on his thumb instead of her own!  OMG, it was so cute we could have died!  Maddox didn’t seem to mind at all.  He is a good cousin.

We still talk with Krista all the time about how lucky we all are to have such adorable little babies.  For a long time we never thought we’d see the day when our kids were in the same room, because we all had doubts about when and if they’d ever exist, but look at us now!  Not only do we both have kids, but we are so, so lucky that they are close in age and they can grow up together.  I guess miracles really do happen…..
