Here are some new pictures of Sam that we just took this weekend. Sam is a little over 3 weeks old in these pictures. She just had her bath and her daddy styled her hair. We were getting ready to dress her for bed, when we decided that she is so adorable we couldn’t stand it and had to take some new pics.

No, she wasn’t on MTV….
We have noticed that a few times in the last week, while sleeping, Sam has been turning herself around about 90 degrees in the bassinet which means she is sticking her feet through the rails. The bassinet is narrow, and she is getting really wiggly, so it keeps happening. She doesn’t seem to mind, but it bothers us, so last night we switched her from sleeping in the bassinet to her crib. We weren’t sure how it would go, since the crib is so big compared to everywhere else she has ever slept (the hospital bed, the bassinet, the pack-and-play), but she did fine. She didn’t seem to mind having all that space at all. We weren’t sure how long she’d sleep in the bassinet, but figured maybe a couple of months, but I guess she had other ideas!
She is still so small, but I can tell she is growing. She has really good head control now so she lifts and turns her head pretty easily from one side to another now when she is on her stomach. She is also getting harder to burp! She used to just sit still while you held her cheeks so she could be burped and now all she does is look everywhere so fast that it is hard to even get a hold of her head. She doesn’t stay still! She is also starting to really notice things now. I think her eyesight is improving a lot. Now if I lay her across my legs sort of propped up on my knees she grabs for my hair or my necklaces if she can reach. Let me tell you, this little one has some muscles — she gets a death grip on my hair and it is hard to get her to let go!

Yesterday was the first day Sam and I spent the day completely alone. Mark had to go back to work : ( so it was just us! Everything went pretty well, although I guess I shouldn’t be surprised since Sam is a good baby. I did have these visions, however, of Sam spending the whole day screaming at me….
She was her happy self all day though. She didn’t want to take a nap in the afternoon, which I knew would just make her fussy later, so I thought a car ride would do the trick and it did, of course. We went to Babies R Us to pick up a few things we needed (we still have a lot of gift cards — which is awesome) and she slept the whole time. By the time Mark got home from work (he left a little early, not surprisingly — he missed his munchkin), Sam was fed, changed, and fast asleep. She did wake up (sort of) to see her daddy before she had to go down for the night completely.
So all in all, we had a good day : ) Maybe this won’t be so hard after all…..

Yesterday Mark’s sister Maria brought over her kids, Analiece and Joey to finally meet Sam. Analiece has been just going crazy waiting to meet her. I remember when I was only about 17 or 18 weeks and we had just found out that Sam was a girl, Analiece was so excited to have another little girl cousin in the family. I think she started asking me when the baby was coming right away and kept asking me almost every time I saw her. Analiece couldn’t wait to have another little girl she could play with and teach how to do things.
When she finally got to meet Sam yesterday she was very sweet and very gentle with her. She touched her very softly on her arms and legs and held her super tightly when she was allowed to hold her in her lap. Maria kept telling her to keep her arm very still so as not to jar Sam’s head or neck and Analiece was as still as a statue. I took off Sam’s socks so Analiece could see her tiny feet and she played the “This little piggy…” game with her. It was so adorable : ) I hope Sam is close with all her cousins as she grows up. I know Mark and I wish our cousins lived closer so we could see each other more.

I can’t believe how fast the time is blowing by. She will be almost 3 weeks old soon. I look at her and feel like she was just born. Every day I think she is more and more beautiful : )
Yesterday her birth cerficate came in the mail. Yet another little thing that for some reason was really exciting, and I have no idea why. I guess it’s just more concrete proof that she is here. I swear, sometimes, I still don’t feel like having her is real. We waited so long for her, to actually have her with us seems like a dream.
A while ago, I posted pictures of Mark in the bassinet that his grandfather made for him to sleep in when he was born. We have been putting Sam to sleep there every night since she came home. Eventually, she will graduate to her full size crib, but right now, I think she likes being cozy in her tiny bed, her trusty pacifer not far from her head. God forbid you lose that thing! We have them all over the house! She really can’t sleep well at night without being swaddled tightly like she is here, and she usually likes her pacifier right when she goes to sleep. She LOVES her pacifier — she looks just like Maggie from the Simpsons when she has it. It cracks us up.
Here is Sam with Mark’s mom and dad. Such proud, happy grandparents!
I think I’ve mentioned before that the kitties have been so good since she came home. They haven’t acted out at all, and they don’t show any resentment toward her even when they want food or attention and I have to feed or change her first. As you can see, they are being very good to her : ) I think they are still confused as to exactly what the heck she is.
Muffin wanted a little mommy time, even if Sam was in the way of his cuddling.
Here is Sam with her proud daddy, chilling out in his recliner.
