Sam’s 4-month checkup

| January 25, 2010

Sam went to the pediatrician today for her 4 month visit. I was afraid it was going to be another long cry-fest like the last time, but she was so good!  She weighs 12 lbs. 13 oz now and is 25″ long!  The nurse practitioner that she saw said she looks great, is growing wonderfully, and she is healthy as can be.  We talked about how Sam rolls over from her back to her belly now, but gets upset when she can’t roll back, and the nurse said to just hang in there with her, that she will eventually learn how to go back on her own.  Yeah…easy for her to say.  She’s not the one who has to keeep rescuing Sam!  She got another vaccination today, but only one, since they were out of the other one she was due for, so I have to bring her back in about a week or two for the other shot.  That’s not necessarily a bad thing though, since only getting one shot, she didn’t really cry.  I liked the way the nurse did things today.  She basically did the whole exam letting me hold Sam on my lap, which I think is better and more comforting for the babies.

In exciting news, Sam can start cereal now!  I got instructions for how much to try to feed her, and if all goes well, and she is doing ok, in a few weeks I can try baby food (fruits and veggies).  So this week I am going to try to get some cereal and see how it goes!  I can’t wait to see her face the first time we put a spoon in there 🙂
