Happy Spring!

| March 20, 2010

Today is the first day of spring and we could not have asked for a nicer day.  After all the rain and cold we have had recently, our 72 degree (22 degrees C), sunny day was just what we all needed.  We decided to get out of the house and enjoy the sunshine so we took Sam to Rose Tree Park in her jogging stroller.  This is the same park we took her to when she was only about a month old, but it wasn’t near as much fun then since she just stayed curled up in her swaddle the whole time.  But today we popped her sun bonnet on her head, laid out a blanket, brought plenty of bottled water and of course, the camera!  I think we all had a great time.  Sam fell asleep before we left though.  All that fresh air knocked her right out.  We are hoping that we get a lot more sunny days this spring that we can enjoy outside with Sam before the dreaded summer humidity kicks in!

Zephyr — Mommy’s Little Helper

| March 16, 2010

I just had to post a few pictures of Zephyr, who is quite the babysitter. She is so cute. Ever since Sam was born, she has sort of hung out where Sam is, spending a lot of time in the nursery and just generally being a good sport about not being the center of attention. We are really lucky that both of our cats have been so great to Samantha. I think since Muffin is gone, Zephyr has been a little more needy, and a little more lovable than usual. I think these pictures show it.

Pack and Play Inspector, at your service!  I couldn’t believe she jumped in there.  She has never done that before.  I am just glad Sam was with me!

More random acts of cuteness, and some updates

| March 16, 2010

I thought I’d post some random pics of Sam that we have taken recently and talk about how she has been doing.  She is eating really well now.  She is up to about 30-32 ounces of formula a day, and she seems to really like her oatmeal a lot. We have been trying additional solid foods with her as often as possible.  So far she has had pears, applesauce, peaches, sweet potatoes, squash, and carrots.  I have been avoiding the green vegetables since I am not sure how well they will go over.  She definitely likes the fruits more than the veggies, and I have been only giving her the “sweet” veggies so far!  So I’m not sure peas and green beans will go over that well.

She is also getting really close to sitting up on her own.  A few days ago I had her sitting unsupported between my legs.  She sat that way for a while before she started to topple over, but not long enough that I would feel comfortable leaving her alone that way.  She still can’t roll from tummy to back yet, but I hope she gets there soon.  The cutest thing is that just yesterday she finally “got” peek-a-boo.  It was so cute.  We were hiding our faces behind a blanket and she was totally cracking up.  She knows what’s coming now. As soon as you start to hide your face, her smile comes out : )

I can’t believe in a week she will be 6 months old.  The time has flown so fast, as she has grown so much.  I can’t wait to see how big she has gotten when she goes for her 6 month check at the doctor. In the meantime, enjoy her pictures!

Here she is enjoying her oatmeal.  Messy, but delicious!

Here she is hanging out with her cousin, Maddox.  They had a play date while Krista and I hung out last week.

And finally, trying to figure out the mystery of records and the spinning record player.  Daddy was introducing her to Stevie Ray Vaughan. Mark swears she was boogie dancing to “The House is Rockin'”.  I was out, and when I came in she was playing air guitar.  She is quite the musical genius (we hope)!

More Tummy Time

| March 14, 2010

Sam is getting very good at tummy time now. She can push herself up really high and stay that way for a long time. She can also roll from her back to her tummy really easily but hasn’t yet figured out how to roll back so she still needs some help from mom or dad for that (especially at 3:00am!).

She was in a really fun mood today as usual so we took some more pictures. As you can tell, she was having a blast!  By the end, she was really hamming it up.

We will miss you, Muffin

| March 6, 2010

Today was a very sad day for the Myers family.  We lost our little Muffin boy who has been living with cancer for 15 months.  There are so many wonderful things I could say about our little cat, who would have been 17 next month, but since this is Samantha’s blog, I thought it best to show him with her.  He was very sweet to her, not jealous, not mean, just loving.  The way he was with all of us.  We love you, Muffin, and will miss you forever.
