Sam has found her feet!

Samantha loves to grab her little feet and swing them in the air when she is lying down. I keep waiting for her to figure out that they too can go into her mouth just like everything else she gets her hands on. Well, tonight I was changing Sam’s jammies and she grabbed both feet and shoved one into her mouth. It was so cute. She looked rather intrigued by the whole thing like, hmmm…something else to chew on…..I guess she sees me “eat” her feet so often, she thought it would be interesting to do to herself!
She is getting to be such an active little one. She is getting so much better at tummy time, staying that way for a long time pushed up on her arms before she gets tired and needs to flip over onto her back (which she still can’t do on her own). Mark and I have been trying to help her sit up on her own, and she is getting a lot stronger with that too. The other day she sat on her own for maybe a minute before she started to topple over. I can’t wait until she can sit and just play for a while without having to be put in a chair or swing or whatever. She wants so badly to sit up on her own. When she is lying down, she sort of starts to curl up like she is doing crunches. It’s funny to watch.
Sam’s eating has been a lot of fun too. On Monday, I was feeding her oatmeal and she, of course, got a lot of it on her face. Usually I can keep her pretty clean though. Well, Monday before I could grab her, she swiped her hand across her mouth, and then across her entire face. She wound up with oatmeal on her mouth, her cheeks, her forehead, and even on her eyelids and brows! It was messy, but adorable. She wasn’t fazed at all. So far, she has had, in addition to her oatmeal, bananas (not a hit), pears and applesauce (hits) and sweet potatoes (the jury is still out on those).
Today, my mom told me that Sam finished with her oatmeal, and Blackie, one of their cats, jumped on the table and finished what was left in the bowl! He is really cute with her. Sam’s pack-and-play is right next to the ottoman where Blackie spends a good part of his day and he sits with Sam all day long. The two of them have a good time watching each other during the day. He is a good babysitter : ) I am glad she has kitties with her all day no matter where she is.
