This past weekend, we took Sam outside to enjoy the crisp fall air and to check out the falling leaves. Every time we go to a park, Sam is obsessed with picking up fallen leaves, so we thought she would enjoy doing it in her own yard. I have to say, she really had a great time initially, when we just sort of had her sitting in the grass. I can’t get over how big she looks now. She is such a little girl and not a baby anymore. We love her little skinny jeans! So grown up.
This is just the cutest face I have ever seen. You can’t see in this photo, but she has at least five teeth coming in, all on the top. The poor little baby has been teething really bad.
Later on, Mark raked together a huge pile of leaves in our back yard and we tried to stick Sam in it. Wow, was she freaked out. We totally didn’t expect it to scare her so much but she just cried and cried. It took a lot of coaxing, and a long time with me sitting holding her in the leaves for her to relax enough to see how incredibly fun a big pile of crinkly leaves can be. Eventually, she learned that it was actually great fun!
There were a few really humongous leaves back there, I can’t even imagine what tree they came from they were such monsters, but we kept handing them to her. It was like she had gold!
Mark got in on the fun too. He kept throwing the leaves in the air so they would tumble down around Sam. She looked so cute when they would fall on her and she’d get tickled.
As you can see, by the end of our little photo op, she was really enjoying herself and discovered that leaf piles aren’t so bad after all. I think next year when she is really running around, she will so love jumping in the big pile we rake together for her amusement.

In our last post Pam talked about how cute Sam was when she was pretend cooking. She couldn’t get any pictures of her at the time, but I got some cute ones today. Doesn’t she look like she’s having fun? Pam was making some breakfast and Sam came in to help — she knows Mommy needs a LOT of help in the kitchen. 😉

Last night Sam did the cutest thing. Mark was cooking dinner and she was hanging out in the kitchen opening cabinets (one of her new favorite things to do). I put a bunch of things in one of the cabinets that she can play with and she dragged them all out. Mark didn’t want her getting burned (she was playing near the stove) so I moved her into the family room. I brought in her “toys” and a bunch of other bowls, spoons, etc. for her to play with. She had such a good time! She had a small whisk I gave her and was whisking away in a bowl, stirring with her big spoon, and putting things into and out of containers. She really looked like she was cooking. Sam is getting to that age when she is starting to make up games, be imaginative, and act like a real little girl and not a baby anymore. I tried to get some video or some pictures of her playing, but every time she saw the camera she would stop playing and come over to me. She is such a ham! I will try to get pictures of her playing chef soon since she looked so cute. At least there is another member of the family who seems capable of cooking!

Here are some new photos that Mark took this weekend while we were home lounging around with Sam. We just think she is so beautiful that we can’t help but want more and more pictures of her all the time. We have been taking so many pictures of her lately but haven’t actually framed that many in the house. Just this weekend we decided we need to get moving on that and get some new pictures of Sam framed and on the wall.
Here Sam is enjoying her morning bagel!
These next few Mark took in the doorway leading from our house onto our porch. There is usually really nice light there and Mark gets some nice pics. I bought this shirt for her recently and this is the first time she has worn it. I think it looks really good on her, but honestly, I have yet to find a color she looks bad in. Lucky baby!
In this last photo I think her expression is so cute. She is getting really tired and she is looking at us like she is saying, “Aren’t we done yet?”
I am so glad we have this blog so that we have an excuse to share all of then with our friends and family! I hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

Saturday morning was a quiet one where we tried to relax and just have some fun with Samantha. She was still in her jammies, and while we were playing on the recliner, Mark took some nice pictures of us.
I like this first one. I don’t know why, but I just love the look on Sam’s face. She does that little bottom lip suck-in a lot when she is thinking hard. She always has the most expressive face. She is concentrating very hard here trying to figure out how to get onto the end table without my noticing and pulling her back.
A nice cuddle moment. 🙂
Tickle monster!
This one is so cute. Sam has gotten really adept at getting her snacks out of her cup. The cup has sort of perforated rubber flaps so the snacks don’t fall out, but she can reach in. She is trying to tell me, “Mom, my Goldfish crackers seem to be gone.”
We are not sure what is going on here, but it looks like she is showing us her constantly emerging teeth (which have been really paining her lately). It’s like she’s saying, “It hurts right HERE.”
After Sam’s little photo session, Zephyr did the cutest thing. Lately, and we are not sure what started it, she has been drinking out of our cups when they are unguarded. The first time we saw her do it was out of the cup on Mark’s nightstand. He always brings a glass of water to bed with him and one night he went to the bathroom to brush his teeth and when he returned found her drinking out of it. She tries to do it all the time now. There wasn’t much water left in this glass so she really had to reach in.
Look at her cute little smushed face! We love how clearly you can see her through the glass. It makes me remember more than ever that although Sam is the light of our lives, we have another wonderful little girl that we love so very much.
