As Pam has been saying below, we have really been having a great time playing with Sam during our vacation. Sam has been getting really into hugs lately. She hugs Pam all the time which is really sweet. Today she was sitting on Pam’s lap and putting her face right up to Pam which looked really cute. I love this photo below because you can see the love that Pam has for our wonderful little girl. I am so lucky to have two such beautifuls girls in my life and am enjoying every second I get to spend with them.

Mark pointed out to me that we are at post #300! I can’t believe it. It has been almost two years since we started Sam’s Blog. So much has happened to us in these last two years and thanks to Sam almost every second of it has been wonderful. My entire pregnancy, the birth of our beautiful, healthy baby girl, watching her grow up, it has been truly amazing. I thought that 2009 was special, but 2010 was even more so.
It is fantastic having a little baby, and I cherished each minute of that first year, but I never expected the absolute joy of having a toddler. Before I was ever pregnant, Mark always told me that the part of parenthood he looked forward to most was when his child was an an age where he could really interact with him or her. That babies were great an all, but he wanted a child. I can see what he means so clearly now. Actually having a little person with her own thoughts, ideas, and personality, living with you, and watching that all develop is nothing short of a miracle. I feel so lucky to be able to witness that and to help form the happy little girl that Sam is. I know that a large part of who Sam is stems from the fact that she knows how loved she is, and she knows how extraordinary Mark and I think she is. The other day Sam was playing with us and laughing uncontrollably. Mark commented how it is kind of sad that she will never remember this time. I agree, but I think the most important thing is that all these playful times, the joy Sam experiences, helps to form her overall feeling of contentment, security, and happiness that will mold her personality. She feels happy and loved. She may not know why, but she will feel it. Thank you, Mark, for giving me our unique and remarkable girl. I don’t say that enough.
In the mornings, Sam loves to be brought up into the “big bed” with her Mommy and Daddy. She scampers from one end to the next and seems so elated to be there. Mark has wanted to try to capture that so he set up his camera in preparation of morning to try to get these pictures. In celebration of our 300th post, and to commemorate our amazing year, here is simply, our family. This is what I imagine when I think of us, and I hope what Sam remembers in her heart as she grows. We love you, Samantha.

Every single time I am trying to load or unload the dishwasher, my little helper can’t get over to me fast enough so that she can “help”. Today Mark took some pictures of her because she always has so much fun and the look on her face is priceless. We always say that when she is big enough the dishwasher will definitely be one of her chores because she obviously loves it so much. Why do I think that when that day comes she will do nothing but complain? Well, Sam, here is proof. You love the dishwasher so much, it is now officially on the list as your job!
That devilish grin…getting into mischief.
Now the innocent look. What? I’m not supposed to take all the dirty dishes out? Ah, yes, always with the knives. I swear, no matter how packed the dishwasher is, this kid can always find the knives.
Oh, all done. Push the top rack back in. You can see some crooked silverware. I asked her to put back in the ones she took out, and she did, the best she could.
Good job, Samantha! Thanks for your help today!
As a side note, after finishing this blog post, I went back to the dishwasher to add the soap and start it running. I found one of her toys perched on the silverware rack. I had no idea she put that in there. Now that I look at these photos, I can clearly see it above (red, with the blue bottom). Crazy babies!

It has been so incredible this last week or so watching Sam playing all day long. Every weekend is so hectic that sometimes we just don’t have as much time as we’d like to just kick back and enjoy letting Sam be a little girl. Since we have been off for the holidays, it has been a blast! Here are some random pictures Mark took today of Sam playing with her new toys.
In this first one, I love the expression on her face. You wouldn’t know it unless I told you, but she is trying really hard to smile for Mark but she has a mouth stuffed full of Christmas cookie so she can’t.
Here she is playing with the crocodile toy that her Mom Mom bought her. She really loves putting the pieces inside and then looking in the crocodile’s mouth to find them.
Sam had such a great day. She just played with us and giggled all day long. She is getting to be so funny now. She really has a definite sense of humor and she tries to make you laugh. My mom stopped over today to pick up her raviolis from our freezer and she was tickling Sam’s nose with the fuzzy cat tail attached to one of Sam’s books. Sam was laughing and giggling and then she started putting the tail to my mom’s nose to make her laugh.
Tonight, I took my slippers off and was sitting on the floor with Sam. I put them on her feet and she cracked up. I took them off of her, and of course, she immediately tried to put them back on her feet. You could tell she thought it was hysterical having these big huge shoes on her tiny little feet. And the other cute thing she has started doing involves one of her new toys, and cats. I mentioned previously that she has started meowing at Zephyr when she hears her meow. Her kitty keyboard that she got for Christmas purrs then meows when it is turned on but hasn’t been touched in a while, sort of when it is in idle mode. Each time it would purr and meow today, Sam would meow. By the end of the night it had gotten to the point where she would hear the purr and meow before the keyboard even moewed.
We have been looking at a lot of pictures of Sam lately from just over the summer, and from her birthday and can’t believe how much she has grown. Our big girl — she is growing up too fast! Mark and I keep reminding ourselves to slow down and enjoy every second. We are really savoring the last few days we have off before going back to work. We’ll miss you Sam, but promise that no matter how busy we are, we will find time to enjoy all of the little things with you. We love you baby girl!

Sam went to the pediatrician today for her 15 month checkup. She is 20 lbs 10 oz and 31 inches! Mark was sitting in a chair in the exam room holding her and she was standing up on his lap. As soon as the doctor came in he said, “wow, she’s really tall.” We know she is a tall baby, but I thought it was funny that as soon as he looked at her, he could tell. She is in the 66th percentile for height. As for her weight, she has always been in the low percentiles, and she dropped a little bit. She did gain weight, but she is now in the approximately 17th percentile for weight whereas she usually is in about the 25th. So, nothing to be concerned about, it is pretty normal for babies to slow their weight gain when moving off of formula and onto solid foods, as Sam did starting after her last doctor’s visit at 12 months. That being said, we need to make sure she keeps eating well so she doesn’t drop down any further. She also got some additional vaccines so she got stuck two times. Poor baby cried, as usual. Otherwise, the visit went fine and the doctor is very happy with her progress. She goes back in 3 months so we’ll see how she’s doing then, but I suspect she will, of course, be perfect!
