Messy, messy Sam!

| April 25, 2011

These are some pictures of Sam like you have never seen before!  Before we got her bathed and dressed for Easter dinner, Mark took Sam outside to play.  She likes to dig and pull up dandelions and look at acorns and leaves, and now she likes her bucket full of water.  Mark figured, what the heck, it is good for her to get messy sometimes, and she’s getting a bath anyway.  Wow did she get messy!  Look at this little girl!  He said she kept putting her hand in the bucket,  grabbing a handful of dirt, then looking at her hand and wiping it all over her shirt.  She was covered in muck from head to toe, but boy did she have fun, so it was all worth it.  Sam loves her bath so much now that I think she secretly figured out that the messier she gets, the longer her bath will be.

I like how in this one you can actually see the water droplets flying.

I love my little girl so much, mud and all.

Easter night

| April 25, 2011

Before we went to dinner on Easter with my parents, we took some family photos.  We didn’t make Sam wear her Easter dress.  She was much happier in her soft little sundress.

The pre-dinner bunch looking pretty dapper, if I do say so myself!

Sam and her proud Poppy. 🙂

Easter Dress, Take 2

| April 25, 2011

Easter morning, after dismantling her basket, Sam was in such a good mood.  Mark and I decided maybe we could try pictures of Sam in her dress again.  She was a little less upset this time, there were no tears involved, but not many smiles either.  She looks so beautiful though, that these pictures just had to be posted.

I love seeing her surrounded by the grass.  It’s such a simple photo, but so pretty.

I love all the tulips but they don’t hold a candle to my little girl.  She outshines any flower around.

Picking dandelions, one of her favorite spring activities.

There’s a smile!

No more photos, please!  I’m outta here!

Sam’s Easter Basket

| April 25, 2011

When Mark and I were kids we both loved Easter.  We have talked about what it was like for us and we both agreed that our baskets were fantastic.  Mark’s was full of Rosalind chocolate, and I always had a ton of candy and the best stuffed animals.  We really look forward to seeing what the Easter Bunny will leave for Sam each year.  Last year, Sam looked at her basket, and eventually played with the toys in it, but she was so little, she really wasn’t into the basket the way she will be when she is older.  This year she had a blast!  I spent the week talking about the Easter Bunny and I think she really sort of understood that something was going on.

Here is a picture of her basket which the Easter Bunny kindly left for her.

He left her basket in our guest room so that she wouldn’t see it until both Mark and I were out of bed.  I got up with her and told her that when Daddy woke up, we would find her basket that the Easter Bunny hid in the house.  Mark called to her from upstairs saying he thinks he sees something, and I got her all excited going up the stairs telling her I think it’s from the Bunny.  Here is her little face when she got her first glimpse of her basket.

She couldn’t wait to get up on the bed to start dismantling it.  Some of her treats were her bendy bunny, a singing bird in a cage, and her stuffed giraffe.  She had a death grip on the giraffe in the store a few weeks ago and I managed to pry him out of her hands before we left.  I felt so bad that she couldn’t have him that I wound up calling the Easter Bunny and telling him she would like him as an Easter treat. 🙂

The eggs were filled with some of her favorite treats like crackers and veggie sticks.

She loves her singing bird!  She giggles each time he plays.  We thought Zephyr would like it too but she gave it a sniff, realized it wasn’t real, and couldn’t have been bothered with it after that.

We were wondering how long it would take for Sam to decide that the grass in the basket is fun.  Not long!

I think it took her all of 6 seconds to empty the whole basket.  And there was a lot of grass in there!

You can just tell from her expression that she is having the time of her life.

Whew!  All done.  Now it’s Mommy’s job to clean up.

Egg Hunt!

| April 25, 2011

On Saturday, we went over to Mark’s parents’ house so that Sam and Maddox could have an Easter egg hunt.  It was kind of a rainy, miserable day so the hunt wound up indoors, but it probably was for the best.  Sam and Maddox are so little that having them run around outside trying to find eggs would have been tough.  As it was, even indoors, we had to sort of “help” them find the eggs.

Before the egg hunt started, Sam wanted to play the piano.  She loves doing it and makes a beeline over there as soon as she can.  She did play for a little while, then Maddox joined her.  Sam actually didn’t mind, but this picture would lead you to believe she was not happy!  I love the look on her face, little arms crossed like she is saying, “Hey!  I was playing the piano!”   Her expressions crack me up.

She let Mommy sit with her and play for a while.  Of course, it would help if I knew what I was doing.  I have no musical talent, but I guess I could learn to plink out a few tunes for Sam.

The Easter egg hunt begins!  Here is Sam with some of her findings.  Her favorite eggs had Goldfish pretzels in them.

The happy mommies and their little ones. 🙂
