Happy Mother’s Day

| May 8, 2011

Sam wanted to make sure we had a post to say happy Mother’s Day to Mom! She loves you very much and is so thankful and happy to have you as her loving and dedicated Mom. Of course, Daddy is lucky too 🙂

Happy Mother’s Day to Mommom and Grandmom too! Sam is very thankful for all you do for her.

Smedley Park

| May 8, 2011

We took Sam to Smedley Park last weekend to let her run around and play.  There is a lot of open space there so we knew she would like it.  She did have fun, picking dandelions, looking at all the other kids and the dogs, and generally just hanging out with her mom and dad.  We decided to sit on a bench for a while to relax and cool off and Sam spontaneously leaned over and hugged Mark.  It was the cutest, sweetest thing.  It was like she was saying, “Thanks, Dad, I had so much fun!”

There is a playground there as well and we let Sam play for a bit.  This is Sam navigating a walkway that is sort of like a swinging bridge.  She was so scared to cross it at first because it moves, but once she got the hang of it, she must have gone back and forth a million times.  We couldn’t get her to go down the slide at the one end by herself though. A couple of times we put her down the slide and she enjoyed it, but not enough to bravely choose to go for it on her own.

Sam and her Daddy watching the other kids play.  She was quite the Daddy’s girl that day!

Close Encounters of the Zephyr Kind

| May 8, 2011

As we have posted about many times before, Sam loves her swing.  I just couldn’t resist posting these pictures of Sam having a blast.   Look at that grin!  She had just been dandelion picking (you can see the remnants on one in her hand).

While she was on the swing, she saw Zephyr on our screened porch.  She was so excited so actually wanted to get off the swing to go and see Zephyr up close.

As you can see, Zephyr was not all that thrilled by the encounter, but Sam was super excited to see her kitty up close outside.  Poor Zephyr — Sam is always following her around and she never gets any peace and quiet!

Sitting enjoying the view

Sam loves to spend time outside so every day after we eat dinner we try to take her outside for some fresh air.  On weekends, she goes outside a few times a day just to run around and have some fun.  She loves hanging out on our front step.  Mark lets her dig in my flower pot, which makes her a mess, but she really likes it.  That will have to end soon since I plan on planting my basil in there!  Anyway, here are some pictures of Sam just hanging out, enjoying the sun and fresh air.

She sits like this a lot, with her little legs stretched out in front of her. I think it’s so cute. I guess because adults never sit this way, it looks so very “kid-like” and thus, adorable.

I have this cat statue in our front garden and Sam loves to put it on the step and sit with it.  Usually, she is covering it with mulch, we have no idea why.

Me and my beautiful girl!

One last smiley picture.   We think she looks especially cute in her little squirrel shirt. I am going to be so sad when she outgrows it.
