Morning Fun

Mark and I were talking about Sam today after she went to bed. I was telling him some of the cute things she did today and we commented to each other that she has such a big personality. It is so much fun watching it develop, learning who she is, and watching Sam learn about the world. It is truly amazing to see the evolution from baby to little girl.
Sam did not want to get out of her crib this morning, and like always, I had next to no time to get her up and dressed and out the door. I am always rushing around with no time to spare so that I can get her to my mom’s house so I don’t miss my train. It isn’t fun for Sam, or for me. She really is a morning person, and she wakes up so happy and smiling and all she wants to do is play in her crib, be silly, and welcome her day. And what do I do? I grab her out of her crib and rush her to get dressed then throw her in the car in the space of less than 10 minutes. It makes me feel so bad every day, but I try not to dwell on it because I don’t really have any choice but to go to work.
So, this morning, Sam was fighting getting out of her crib (when I go to pick her up she scurries to one side of the crib, lays down, and curls up into a tight little ball so I can’t lift her). When she was standing, she was grabbing at my pearl necklace. She wanted to see it so badly because I never let her touch it for fear she will break it accidentally, so…yes, I bribed my daughter. I told her that if she came out of the crib she could see my necklace. As soon as I said it, her little arms came up for me to lift her out. I gave her my pearls to hold while I changed her but then when I tried to take them back, she had a fit. I gave her one of the necklaces we let her wear in trade, and she was happy, but she lifted her arm up, saw her lack of bracelets, and make a confused “hmmmm” sort of sound like, “this is just not right!” When we got to my mom’s house, I swear she was there less than 5 minutes and she pulled out her little purse that holds her jewelry and put on every necklace and bracelet she had. Obviously, she must accessorize in the mornings now or she can’t go out!
One other cute thing she did today that my mom told me about — she had a sippy cup full of milk and she dripped some on the floor. Sam gets really upset when things spill and she always wants it cleaned up immediately. I asked my mom if Sam insisted she clean it and she said, no, actually Sam ran to get a tissue and wiped up the floor herself! She really loves to be helpful. What can I teach her next? Maybe cleaning the bathroom…
