Sam and her swing

| July 9, 2011

I just love watching Sam swing.  She looks so happy, so carefree, just like a little girl should. Here are some new pictures.

Look at that hair blowing in the breeze!

She likes when I run behind her as her swing goes forward, I don’t know why.  It always sends her into a fit of giggles.

My happy little girl. 🙂

4th of July parade

| July 9, 2011

This July 4 we took Sam to her very first parade.  Springfield has a lot of parades but we have never gone to any before.  We thought that now that Sam is getting older, we had better get more in tune with the various festivities because she will like going.  I am glad we went because I think she had a really good time.

Here we are enjoying the stroller parade.  Sam had her stroller but she didn’t march, we just watched.

A lot of the marchers were tossing out candy as they went.  Sam got a lollipop (actually, quite few!)

I wasn’t sure how she’d like the music from bagpipes, but she seemed ok with the noise.

The Republican Party elephant was a big hit!  I don’t think she knew quite what to make of such a large animal.  She has never seen anything in person bigger than a horse.

After the parade, we went to the park and Sam ate some soft pretzels, got a balloon and listened to the band.  We couldn’t stay long though since naptime was quickly approaching.  Oh well, there’s always the next holiday parade!

Kissy Face

| July 9, 2011

Sam has started kissing pretty much everything now. She makes little smacking noises when she does it, and she loves to kiss things.  We have a little swinging cat in one of our trees that she likes me to push back and forth, and I guess she decided to show him how much she loves him.

Oh, and this one is just Sam being her silly self!

Farmer Sam

Sam loves plants.  She smells all the flowers and loves to pick and sniff my basil plant.  Ever since I planted our tomatoes this spring, I have been trying to get her to help me with them by bringing her watering can to water them.  She wasn’t especially interested until recently.  Our plants have started yielding some tomatoes and we always let her pick them.  She likes to go over and see if there are any to pick.  It took a while for her to understand that she can only pick the red ones, but I think she gets it now.  The hardest part is getting them away from her — she picks them and then doesn’t want to give them up!
