Playtime!

| August 15, 2011

Thursday wasn’t the best day after a rainstorm we had Wednesday night so we decided to take Sam to the playground.  She just ran around and around the whole time barely getting on the actual playgound equipment!  That is pretty typical for Sam though.  She is still leery of slides and other things but she is getting braver every time.

Here Sam and her Mom Mom are enjoying a gentle swing.

Sam wanted to climb this little ramp so badly but she was kind of scared.  She finally braved it after about 3 aborted attempts.

I think these little posts are meant to be walked on like stairs, but Sam thought they looked like a handy table and chair, so that is what she did.  I love seeing Mark and Sam together.  It just melts my heart.

More beach fun!

Here are yet more pics of our beach fun.

I love Sam in her shades!  It is the first day she would wear them, but once she put them on, she didn’t want to take them off.

Looking for seashells with Mom Mom and Pop Pop.

Our motley crew!

Maddox and Sam loved hanging out together. It was really the most quality time they have had together in a year and they both seemed to enjoy it.

Maddox definitely didn’t have Sam’s fear of the ocean!

Our sweet little angel curled up on our bed for an afternoon nap.

A piece of paradise

As I mentioned briefly before, Sam refused to sleep in her crib the entire week.  Her sleeping habits have been horrible (we are working on it) but for the sake of everyone’s sanity on vacation we decided to let her have her way and she slept with my mom.  This is how I found her snoozing away on vacation Tuesday morning.  She is so darn cute.

Here are some pics of yet another great beach day.  Sam and Mark had fun digging holes.

Sam was getting more relaxed each day.  She was finally splashing and having fun.

We all got lots of thank you hugs on vacation.  She was a super cuddly girl.

Hanging out with Mom Mom and Pop Pop.

After the beach we went to dinner at Basilico’s, which we love.  As you know, Sam loves jewelry.  But…she surprised even me by her dedication to her passion.  She made bracelets out of the onions in our salad.  That girl can make something out of nothing, that’s for sure!

We stopped to peek at the bay on the way home.  We hoped to see a sunset, but it would have been too late for Sam.  She had fun though looking at the many dogs that people were walking by and picking up rocks.

Our last stop was the Promenade again.  There was a bench there that we kept seeing that we just had to pose Sam on.

I just love vacation…everyone can just relax and be happy.

One of my favorite things to do with Sam is just hold her hand and walk. I have waited for what seems like an eternity to do just that with my little girl and now that I can, I never want to let her go.

Stormy Monday

| August 15, 2011

Monday was yet another gorgeous beach day.  We all had fun playing in the sand and Sam took another nap on me.  One of her favorite things the whole time we were at the beach every day was waiting for the trucks to come that comb the beach.  Sam loves trucks in general, but I guess watching them on the beach was funny.

After dinner, we decided to walk the Promenade.  It seemed like a good idea until the sky started to get black as night and the thunder and lightening started!  We literally had to run home for the last few blocks so we didn’t get stuck in the storm.  Sam refused to get into her stroller so I ran carrying her for more blocks than I care to think about.  I was dying, but Sam thought running like that was just so much fun!  This picture was taken before the rain was approaching.  Does Sam know how to strike a pose, or what?  It’s like she’s just daring you to take her picture.

Here are the storm clouds rolling in.  There is nothing quite like the view of a storm over the ocean.

I love you :)

Sunday, July 31 was by far was the best vacation day ever at least for me.  The day my little girl told me she loved me. I will never forget it.

We had such a busy beach and boardwalk day and it was getting really late.  So, eventually we started for home. Sam fell asleep in the car holding her new frog that Grandmom bought her. We got her to bed around 9:00 and Sam was simultaneously exhausted and all wound up. I was lying on my mom’s bed with her (which is a whole other story, she refused to sleep in her crib even one night). I was just trying to get her soothed enough to fall asleep so I could sneak out. We were talking quietly and I said, “Sam, Mommy loves you so much. Do you love Mommy?” and in the tiniest, cutest voice, Sam said, “Love you” (which came out more like Lub You). It was so incredibly adorable that I just squished her so close. I wanted to hug her all night. I did get her to say it a few more times but I wonder if she knows what it means. Even if she doesn’t, it totally made my day. My little girl loves me. I know she does, I mean, really, of course I do, but there is something about hearing those words from her own mouth, in her own little voice. Oh, little girl….I am so lucky to have you!

Here is a picture of my sweet pea all sleepy with her new frog.  Sleep tight baby girl!
