We’re back!

| September 9, 2011

Our computer is finally back and the posts can continue!  It’s not that we didn’t have access to another computer while our main one was out of commission, but frankly, let’s face it, posts aren’t nearly as exciting without photos.  Besides that, with the hurricane and just being insanely busy, there just didn’t seem like a lot of free time.  But, we are back!  So, let the posting commence.  What has been going on around here lately? Well, a hurricane or two or three….

This has been the craziest August.  We have had more rain than ever in recorded history for our area — 19.3 inches, which is about six months worth of rain.  For 2011, Philadelphia has gotten drenched in over 40 inches of rain.  The last weekend in August we got hit with Hurricane Irene (which brought tornadoes as well), then the next weekend over Labor Day, Hurricane Katia, then later with Hurricane Lee.  Thankfully, unlike some of our neighbors, we didn’t have a basement full of water, but we did have some seeping water in one of our basement walls.  And, of course, our power went out, but strangely not until after Hurricane Irene was pretty much over.  That lasted only 6 hours and was during daylight, so there was that to be thankful for.  Sam slept right though everything, the rain, the tornado warnings, everything.  And she seemed to not really care much about the power failure, other than she didn’t understand why she couldn’t watch Elmo!

Some of the below pictures were taken at some point before our computer died, and some more recently, but I wanted to get some new pics up for everyone to enjoy.

Here are Sam and her Daddy enjoying some nice, non-rainy weather!

We took a trip to Tyler Arboretum recently, and Sam was checking out the pond. It was really high after the hurricanes, and she could see a lot of fish swimming around.

Sam spied pumpkins!  It was really hard to explain to her that they were not hers to take home.  Usually, any random plants or pinecones or whatnot that she finds, we let her keep.

Speaking of pumpkins, here is Sam in one of her favorite outfits.  She LOVES orange.  Anything orange she gravitates to.  Every day now she insists on being able to pick out her own clothes.  She stands in her crib in the morning and when I open her drawer she calls out to me with hands raised, “Pick! Pick!” and I have to let her choose at least one part of her outfit.  Usually, it’s orange….

My little girl, bedecked in her favorite jewelry.  You will notice how she is wearing some Lego blocks that happen to have rings on them as bracelets.  Crazy girl!
