Sam’s 2 year well visit

| September 26, 2011

Sam went to the pediatrician today for her 2 year well visit.  She did great!  Sam is now 34.5″ tall and 24 lbs. 7 oz.  She is still on the same growth pattern – tall and skinny, basically.  She is in the 69th percentile for height and the 21st for weight.  She got the last vaccine she will need until she is about school age, and she did get a flu shot.  My little girl was so brave though and she didn’t cry.  The doctor and I talked about her development, how she talks, how she plays, how she is growing and Sam is right on schedule.  We talked a lot about how picky an eater Sam is and the doctor told me not to worry because the food she eats, although it is a limited menu, is very healthy, really good food.  Allegedly, eventually, as Sam gets older, she will be more willing to try new food.  We will see about that…

In other news, Sam has finally started saying thank you when we give her things.  It is so cute, it comes out “Tank Ooo”.  I noticed it one day last week but I wasn’t sure if that was what she was saying.  She has done it a few times since then so I am sure that is what she is saying.  It is so nice because we have really been trying to get her to say it and the times that she does say it it has been completely on her own without any prompting from us.

Sam is such a big girl now.  Every day she just says more things and does more things.  It seems like she is growing by leaps and bounds.  It is almost like when she was a baby and every day there was something new.  She loves to try new things and to help Mommy and Daddy with whatever we are doing.  Today she noticed that the little connector that holds the cords of the blinds together was disconnected. It has been coming apart.  Sam kept telling us it was broken. It wasn’t really, but we agreed with her and told her, yes, it was broken. She immediately ran to Mark’s toolbag that we keep in the closet and pulled out a screwdriver.  She knows that Mark uses tools to fix things and was obviously trying to help.

It looks like there will have to be a lot more frequent blog posts now to keep up with all of Sam’s activities!
