Santa Baby!

| November 18, 2011

Today I had a bunch of errands to run at the mall so off Sam and I went.  The whole mall was decked out in Christmas splendor, but we were there really early so Santa wasn’t there yet.  Sam did enjoy all the decorations and the 5 foot tall toy soldiers got some hugs!  I didn’t think Sam would get to see the jolly guy, but right before we left, Santa came!  Sam was so excited.  I brought her over to say hello since no one else was waiting, and she sat right on his chair and gave him a lot of shy smiles. She wouldn’t tell him what she wanted for Christmas, but I filled him in on what toys she wanted and assured him that she had been a really good girl this year.  I told her that we would come back again when she had her pretty Christmas clothes on and take a picture and she seemed to like that idea.  Sam has been telling us that she wants Santa to bring her an orange snake, a car, and an apron, so that is what I told him. Right before we left Santa asked Sam if he could have a hug and she gave him a nice sort of sideways hug and put her head on his shoulder.  No tears like last year, so this year’s picture hopefully will be great!

Autumn

Our weather has been fairly crazy for a while now.  But this past weekend we decided to get out despite the cold.  We all just needed to get some fresh air.  Here are some cute pics of Sam just hanging out in the yard.

Crib Antics

Sam still loves her crib, thank God. We really aren’t ready to let her sleep in a bed.  We like that she has to stay confined.  She would be up and running around at all hours otherwise.  Sadly, we have seen her put her foot up on the crib rail, which means she is very close to being able to climb out.  The only thing keeping her in is that she still sleeps in a sleep sack so she can’t lift her leg that high.  She can only do it when she is fully dressed and playing in her crib.

At any rate, she is in there and hopefully for a while longer.  She loves to play in her crib and asks to be put in all the time.  Here are some pictures Mark took recently of our crazy girl playing in her crib.

Sam always has a bunch of stuffed animals in there, but sometimes she likes us to throw *every* animal she has in with her.  We only do this for play, not while she is sleeping.  Her latest thing is that she likes to hide underneath all of them.  She lays down and we pile them all on top of her.  Sam finds this hysterical and we have to admit, she is pretty darn cute!  Sam is all about hiding now, whether it is under her toys, under a blanket, in a sleeping bag or just by hiding her face in your body somewhere.

Sam is wearing her new frog robe – I just love it!

There is a little arm sticking out somewhere…

Peek a boo (or as Sam says, Peekoo!)

Mark was playing with her the other day and decided to pile up her animals on her crib rail.  This was a huge effort to keep them from falling down, but Sam appreciated the effort!

Sam! Finally!

| November 4, 2011

Today was the first day I heard Sam say her name as, “Sam” as in, with an “S”.  She had been saying her name as Nam for a while now.  We also asked her what her name is and she said, Samantha, so she knows her full name despite our almost constant use of Sam.  She does get called both pretty often, my mom only calls her Samantha, and we try to switch off so that she knows both refer to her.  She also sort of knows her last name is Myers.  She only says it sometimes without prompting, but it is so cute.  Pronunciation must be so hard, on top of all the words kids have to learn, and Sam gets better and better every day.  She is saying Zephyr better now too.  Most of the time it still comes out with a B, but there are hints of a Z sound now.  Way to go Sam!
