You light up my life!

| December 4, 2011

Today I decided to decorate the inside of our house for Christmas since the outside has been done for a little while.  It takes forever to drag everything down out of the attic but I managed to do so while Mark had Samantha at the playground.  They had just gotten back before I really got anything set up.  When Sam came in, she was so excited to see all of the stuff.  My mom’s house has been decorated since before Thanksgiving, so Sam is used to seeing all the snowmen, Santas and other good stuff.

Our first order of business was setting up the ceramic tree my grandmom made.  You know the kind, with the light bulb inside and all the holes in it that you have to fill with the million little colored glass bulbs.  Sam, of course, tried to put an orange one in every hole.  I had to do a lot of rearranging when she wasn’t looking…

She helped me set up all of our other decorations.  I made sure this year I bought some extra things that were soft and non-breakable so she could carry them around if she wanted to, and boy, did she want to!

Her favorite part was the lights.  Last year I strung a lot of lights all over our living room.  I wanted to do the same this year since that is what makes her face light up more than anything.  She was so sweet trying to help me hang them.  At one point she had a bunch of unlit, unplugged strands and was hanging them on the doorknob to help me because I had just finished stringing the doorway.  She loves to help all the time, no matter what you are doing.

I can’t wait to see how she helps to decorate our tree.  This will be the first year she is really old enough to help, so we will see how it goes!

Ravioli Day 2011

| December 4, 2011

As I posted last year, every year it is a tradition to make homemade raviolis for Christmas dinner.  This year, we thought Sam would want to help since she loves being in the kitchen but she wasn’t really that interested. I think she was more excited to hang out with Maddox than be with us.  Here are a few pictures from our day.

She started out all ready to go, with her apron that Santa was nice enough to send to her early, and her rolling pin, Sam-sized!

The apron came off early, but she did want to see what was going on.

Sam and Maddox spent most of the day running around like crazy and playing with toys.

When we were done, they were both nice enough to help us clean up.  They are very handy with a broom!

After a while, we all decided that Sam and Maddox needed to burn off some energy outside.  They look so adorable together, I can’t stand it!

The whole next day, Sam kept talking about Maddox. I asked her if she had fun playing with Maddox and she said, “Running!” and then she said, “Friends”.  So cute.

When Maddox left, Sam didn’t want to come inside (or wear her coat!)  She was having too much fun playing in the leaves.  I love how happy and carefree she looks here.  It is a perfect kid moment.

Hmmm…should I throw these, or stash them somewhere for later?

Do you think she knows she is cute?  Yeah, she does.
