Where the heck have we been?

| February 4, 2012

Yeah, I was wondering that too when I saw the date of the last post.  Where have we been?  Well, the better question is what has been going on around here.  As I posted before, Sam was sick.  She got better very quickly, thank goodness,  but I was also sick and then Mark got sick too.  We have just been a mess around here.  Aside from all the illness slowing us all down, we both have been crazy busy at work (that would be me and Mark, not Sam, ha!) and Sam is sleeping horribly.  We honestly don’t know what is going on with her.  My good little sleeper has decided that not only is waking up in the middle of the night at least once, but more likely 2 or 3 times and screaming for Mommy ok, but she also decided that 5:00 a.m. is a fine and dandy time to start her day.  Um…no.  I get up for work at 5:50 a.m. thank you very much and that is early enough.  This has been going on for a long time.  Last night Mark and I decided enough is enough.  She literally was up every hour from 1:00 a.m.  We played tag team and took turns going to visit the crazy woman.  The last time Mark went in last night, at 4:00 a.m., he told her enough was enough and we were not coming back in.  Sure enough, she screamed and whined at 5:00 but it was her bossy scream, not the I Need Something Scream, so we both ignored her.  She stopped, much quicker than I would have guessed, and then we never heard from her again until almost 7:00.  So, long story short, it worked.  We decided that we were going to have to just play hardball with her and make her understand that she has to stay in bed until a decent hour.

Otherwise, she has been good.  I really can’t complain.  She is a good little girl, and other than her sleep habits being a mess right now, and that I still wish she was a better eater, she is wonderful.  She is talking up a storm, which will be the subject of another post because I have so much to say about how much she has to say!

Oh, in other developments, I am starting a new job in a week!  Getting up at 5:50 a.m. and racing against the clock all day to get Sam to my mom’s, get the train, catch the train home, and so on has been really taking a toll on me, and thus, on Mark and our whole family.  So, when a job for a guy I used to work for, who has an office in Havertown (a 15 minute drive from home) came up over the holidays, how could I say no?  I am really excited about starting and finally getting out of the city.  Our hope is that when my day becomes less stressful, I will be a happier, calmer person in general, and that will help carry over into our home life making us all a little happier and less stressed.  So, we’ll see how it goes. I told Sam that Mommy is going to start going to a new office soon so we won’t have to rush so much in the morning and now all I have been hearing for weeks is “See Mommy new office?”  She loved visiting my old one in the fall so she can’t wait to see the new one.  Although, she keeps mentioning all the treats and whatnot that people gave her when she was there and I try to explain to her that there are not so many people in the new office and I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for goodies!

S0, in a nutshell, the Myers family is fine, just overwhelmed with life in general, but hoping for something better soon.  I will be posting more now that I feel my life is more situated, and hopefully get some new pictures up shortly!
