Sam watches Sesame Street all the time. She tends to get obsessed with certain segments for a while, then she stops. Lately, her favorite has been a 30 second clip of a little girl who goes to yoga class. Not long after watching it for the umpteenth time (she makes me rewind and watch over and over again – she does that with anything she likes), she started doing this pose, and saying, “Doing yoga!”
I couldn’t get a picture of it, but she would many times lift her hands off the floor and stay that way, balanced on her head. I love yoga but haven’t done it since before I was pregnant. Maybe Sam will be my inspiration to get started again, so that I can do it with her. My silly, silly girl….

I have been dying to start playing with hair styles for Sam but she will never let me. Her hair is so long now that I can easily make ponytails but she is an unwilling participant in my stylist games. Last week though, we were eating spaghetti and Mark was trying to get her hair out of her face so she didn’t get sauce in it. We didn’t have any barrettes downstairs but I, on the off chance she would agree, asked Sam if she wanted a ponytail. I was shocked when she smiled and said yes! Of course, once she had her ponytail in, just like her Mommy, we had to take some pictures. I looooove her hair, but I do think she looks super cute with her hair all pulled back. I can’t wait to try two ponytails on either side of her head.
Look how long it is!
Our girl loves her pasta!
A few days later, she actually asked me to make her a ponytail, so I obliged.
One side of her cute little face…
And the other side…
She’s such a good little model. I can’t get over how different she looks to me though without all that hair!
One final picture, in her car she got for Christmas.

We try to play music for Sam whenever we can, but unfortunately, don’t do it enough. We play all kinds of things, jazz, blues, rock, all my 70s “singers and songwriters” kind of tunes, kids’ songs, you name it, hoping to expose her to as many things as we can.
One day, Mark put on his new Foo Fighters CD just because he wanted to hear it, not specifically for Sam. We were so surprised at how she absolutely loved it! I mean, really, really loved it. As you all know, she loves to bounce and jump and the Foo Fighters songs on their new CD are just made for bouncing. One song in particular, Sam actually calls her bouncing song. You should all check it out. The album is Wasting Light and the song is called Bridge Burning. We all dance to it all the time. When she asks for it, we know exactly what she wants. Mark and Sam bounce together, jumping up and down like lunatics. He taught her to “spin bounce” and to wave her arms around. She loves dancing now and watching her is such a joy. The Foo Fighters had a concert on one of our cable channels recently and we taped it so now not only can Sam hear her songs, she can see them sing too. She even says their name.
She also has a new game she calls “super bounce”. One day either Mark or I started lifting her really high in the air and bouncing her off the couch and she giggles and giggles. She could do it forever, but she is getting so heavy that eventually we have to stop, or trade off, because our arms are going to fall off! Here are some pics of Mark and Sam super bouncing.
I love how her hair flies up in the air on the way down.
Sam and her Daddy. 🙂

Sam loves sunglasses. She is always putting them on when she finds them, and she loves to try them on in stores. Of course, last year she ripped them off every day in the summer when she needed them, but hopefully now she is over it and will wear them. She looks so cute that I often call her “cool Sammy” when she has them on. Here is a picture we took of her recently. Look at my movie star — Cool Sammy!
