Conversations with my girl

| November 23, 2012

Sam and I had such a lovely conversation today. I have a lot of pain in my knees, mainly from the onset of arthritis, which stinks. I pretty much always hurt in my knees but I run around with Sam all the time because I refuse to let it stop me from having fun with my girl. Sometimes though, standing up, or moving a certain way, well…it just hurts. Today, I did something, I can’t remember what, and I kind of ow’d and this is what transpired.

Me: [quietly] Ow.
Sam: Mommy? Why you say “Ow”?
Me: My knee hurts, honey.
Sam: Why your knee hurt?
Me: I dunno. It just does. Mommy is getting old.
Sam: You not old, Mommy! You perfect!

Well. What can you say to that? Is that the most wonderful thing a little girl could say? I wish I had it taped. Someday, when she is about 13, and thinks I know nothing about anything, I will need to hear that conversation over and over and over again. But for today, in my little girl’s eyes, I was as perfect as I think she is.
