Trimming the Tree, 2012 Edition

| November 25, 2012

This year we were able to put our tree up super early since we have the artificial one.  Last year, we decided very last minute to buy an artificial tree so it was around the middle of the month, like usual, before the tree was up and decorated.  I never thought I would like a fake tree, but honestly, it is so great being able to have it up early, not have to water it, not having pine needles all over the floor…there are a lot of benefits, true.  Sam was so excited when we got everything out.  She donned all her Santa gear and was ready to go! (I didn’t put any of this on her, other than the pants, of course….she decked herself out all by herself).

I wanted a nice picture of the two of us, but Sam was being silly, as usual.

Every single ornament we have is wrapped in tissue paper, so Sam has a blast wondering what is each little package.  Every time she’d grab one, she would say, “I see something!  I see something!  It’s….it’s….it’s a [insert animal/Santa/other assorted ornament here]!  We were cracking up she was so excited and so cute.  We did take a video of her saying it because it is too cute to miss.

Most of our ornaments are non-breakable, thankfully, and we let her decorate a huge portion of the tree by herself.

These animal ornaments are some of her favorites.  We got a few duplicates, like the giraffes, and she likes to hang them next to each other so they can, “be friends together”.

Every ornament you see here, Sam hung all by herself.  I think she did a great job!

These Snoopy ornaments are old as the hills and Sam LOVED them last year. She took them off the tree all the time. I wondered if she’d remember them this year, and she certainly did!

The jingle bells are always a favorite of hers too.  Anything with jingle bells is a hit in Sam’s book.

Zephyr always makes herself right at home under the tree.  She was scurrying under there before an ornament was even on it — before we even had the whole tree assembled, in fact!
