A Fairy Princess Halloween

Happy Halloween everyone! Yes, I know it’s not Halloween yet, and we don’t usually give anyone a sneak peek at our gorgeous girl in her costume before the big masquerade night, but we did take these photos early and it is getting hard to not share! You just never know what Halloween will be like around here. Pennsylvania can be odd that way. Last year, it snowed the day before Halloween, and this year the forecast is calling for 68 degree weather! So, a little bit ago we got a nice weekend so Mark decided to try to take some nice photos of Samantha in her costume. We wanted to do it, and her, justice. She looks so unbelievably beautiful. This is her first “big girl” costume and she looks so very grown up.
We decided to walk down the street to where the playground is. There are a lot of trees, and a stream, and it seemed the perfect setting for a fairy to be for her photo shoot. On the way down the sidewalk, Sam abruptly stopped to look at something on her costume. I thought it was a leaf, but on better examination, we all saw that it was a grasshopper! It was so perfect, it walked right up her dress to her hand, as if it knew there was an honest to goodness fairy in its midst. Samantha was so excited she could hardly move. We told her to talk to him, since fairies commune with nature and the grasshopper is probably waiting for her to say something.
Eventually, we let the little guy (or girl) go, back into the grass, so it could tell all of its grasshopper friends about his exciting day. When we got to the park, Sam felt right at home. She loves her costume so much. She kept looking down at herself and smiling. I think she never felt more beautiful. I have to agree. She is quite stunning.
She was really having the time of her life. We are lucky we got the costume off when we got home — I was starting to think she would want to keep it on forever!
“Hmmm…does this thing really work?” she seems to be wondering.
The stone bridge over the stream was a nice change of scenery. No trolls came to visit though! I think they were afraid Sam would turn them into frogs!
One last portrait, while Sam contemplates the nature around her. We love you so much, our amazing girl. I can’t believe how grown up you are. There is no doubt in your Mommy or Daddy’s minds that you will be the most stunning fairy anyone has ever seen on Halloween night.
