My Little Patriot

| May 6, 2014

Sam was at my mom’s today as usual and when I came to pick her up my mom told me that while Sam was playing outside she was mumbling something to herself. At first, my mom thought she was singing, but then figured out she was clearly saying the Pledge of Allegiance! I asked her about it in the car on the way home and she recited the whole thing, and even put her hand over her heart. At the end she says, “God Bless America”. I was so proud of her! I had no idea they recite that in her preschool, but they must do it pretty often for her to learn it so well. I am sure Sam has no idea what she is actually saying, but the fact that she can even recite it so well, with so many difficult words, is amazing to me. I wanted her to recite it for Mark but for some reason she wouldn’t. She told me I could record a video of her doing it and we could show him that. Works for me! Mark got to see it and I got the added bonus of having it recorded! Someday, she will know what the words mean, and how lucky she is to be an American, but for now, it is enough.

I pledge allegiance

to the Flag of the United States of America,

and to the Republic

for which it stands,

one Nation

under God,

indivisible,

with liberty and justice for all.

God Bless America, for sure.
