Our Little Christmas Angel

| December 17, 2014

Today was Sam’s last preschool Christmas program. She was so excited about it this year because, since she is a big 5 day student, she gets to be part of the nativity scene performed at the end. They picked their parts out of a hat and a few days later she told me she was going to be an angel. The perfect part for my little one, for sure! For about a minute she was disappointed that she was not Mary (I think every girl in her class wanted to be Mary), but when my mom asked her what part her friend Ava had (a sheep), my mom assured Sam that she had a very good part indeed!

Here she is walking in to the church. They tried their costumes on only recently, and now she really wants me to make her an angel outfit, complete with halo and wings.

Here are Sam and her friend Ava. It is nice that they got to stand next to each other, but I think Sam talked Ava’s ear off the whole time, except for when they were singing.

Here is a good portion of her class. It was so great they lined up this way because all of Sam’s little friends are right on this side. Nicholas, Mary Cate, Ashlee, Madelyn, Ava, Sam, Erin, Kaylee, and Michael. There are others in her class, obviously, but this group contains pretty much all her friends.

When they sing Jingle Bells they all ring bells. It is so adorable. They are remarkably “together” with the ringing.

After everyone was lined up (the 3 day kids are in the front, where Sam was last year), the concert started. Sam really sang every song this year but she still didn’t do most of the hand motions. I think it was more fun for her this year since it was the same songs as last year and she knew them a lot better.

On to the nativity! Sam was happy she got to stand right next to Mary. I assured her that was a place of honor!

Sam did do a lot of the hand motions during the song portion of the nativity scene, making stars fall from the sky, rocking the baby Jesus (who Sam still calls Baby Genius…). It was so adorable to see. I was very proud of my angel.

When the show ended, a very special visitor showed up. Last year, Sam didn’t want to stick around to see him (she told me the other day that it was because he was giving out lollipops and it wasn’t a kind she liked). This year though, she made it clear she wanted to see Santa! Off we went and she happily plopped on his lap.

Our last preschool Christmas program. I will miss seeing the little ones perform, but there’s always whatever she does in Kindergarten. I can’t wait!
