The Sam and Julia Theater

| January 12, 2015

Julia came over to play with Sam yesterday and, in addition to their usual antics, and dress up, of course, they played at something new. Usually the two of them wind up in Sam’s bedroom for a while and I tend to leave them on their own. Yesterday, I needed to go upstairs anyway, and I noticed Sam’s door was closed tight. I tried to open it and they blocked me out with pleas to not come in yet. Eventually, I was allowed in. The two little mischief makers had completely upended Sam’s table and had chairs and stuffed animals and a hundred other things all over the place. After the initial shock (and the dismay at the impending clean up) wore off, I was told it was movie time. This was their theater. The table is the screen, you see, and all the stuffed animals and dolls were there to see the show. The girls thoughtfully gave everyone a seat, even me.

Sam has a tiny popcorn box so she was completely prepared.

Sam narrated the show, which was a fascinating tale about a girl and her quest to find her friends. It turned out well, thankfully. I wasn’t in the mood for a sad movie.

The movie seemed never ending and I cut out at intermission. It was a good thing, since I think the goofballs were done being serious about their show!

I swear, 5 year old minds are amazing to me. I wish I still had that kind of imagination!
