Daddy’s Helper

| May 31, 2015

One of our light switches in the powder room was acting a little funny so Mark bought a new switch to change it. Sam, of course, immediately dove in to help. As soon as she sees tools she comes running. Here’s Little Miss Fix It hard at work. 🙂

The New Pool

| May 30, 2015

We finally made it to the new pool! I think I may have mentioned that over the winter they dug up the entire pool complex and built an entirely new set of pools. There is a new baby pool with water features, a big regular pool and a small lazy river. We couldn’t wait to try it out. Everyone came for the big day. Now that Sam has finished her first set of swim lessons, and has a pretty good grasp on the motion of swimming (although she still needs a flotation device), we were excited to see how she could do. She is such a little fish in the water now, she never wants to get out! I want Mark to really work with her this summer to see if we can get her actually swimming. Right now, she chugs along from one end of the pool to the other with a noodle tied around her chest.

Mark enjoyed the lazy river (and so did Sam and I later that day). I can’t believe summer is in full swing and we are in pool season!

Nope, no frogs to be found here

| May 27, 2015

Mark and Sam were out and about and she was slightly confused about the storm drains in the street. Mark was explaining to her what they were for, and what the signs on them meant and se said, “Oh, I thought it meant you put your frogs in there.” Um. No.

Happy 1st Birthday Cousin Ryder!

| May 25, 2015

Yesterday, we went to Ryder’s first birthday party. Sam couldn’t wait! She loves “Baby Ryder” as she still calls him, although, he is getting so big, I don’t know if we should be calling him a baby anymore.

Here are the proud parents with the cutie pie!

The kids absconded with the balloons and had a great time beating up on Ryder and Maddox’s Grandmom, Loretta! She was a good sport about it though.

Time to eat! The birthday boy couldn’t wait to finish his food so he could move on to cake and presents! Well, maybe that’s not why he ate so well, he just is a good eater, but still.

While the adults relaxed a bit, and cleaned up, the kids played on their own. Sam loves showing Ryder things and trying to teach him. She’d be a good big sister.

Off he goes! Ryder is getting around pretty well now.

What three beautiful kids. We are certainly very lucky.

Cake time!

I think he liked it.

It was a hot day, so before presents, we let Sam and Maddox run around outside in a sprinkler. They quickly found water guns and started the attack.

When they were wet enough and ready to come in, it was present time! Sam and Maddox helped Ryder open all of his stuff. I think they were as excited as he was with the new toys.

Biking at Ridley

| May 23, 2015

We’ve been working on getting Sam riding her bike more and more so that she builds up some stamina. We want to be able to really go bike riding with her for a decent length ride, but she needs to be able to go for a while, up hills, down hills, without getting too tired. She has been doing great because Mark has been taking her out a lot after work. Recently, we decided that a trip to Ridley Creek State Park was in order. It is a nice smooth surface for her to ride on, although, the hills can be killer, even for an adult. Sam was ready to go! There was lots of bike riding, but also lots of time out to explore.

Sam got tired toward the end, but the easiest way to get her moving it to challenge her to a race. She’s in the lead!

Look at these professional riders! Ready for the Tour de France.

As we were putting the bikes back on the car at the entrance, this adorable (and super friendly) cat jumped up to see everyone. Sam was so excited! I think it made the whole day for her. It was a pleasant surprise, for all of us. 🙂
