It’s not quite Halloween yet, but apparently it’s dress up time! Mark and Sam were out playing in the back yard and before I knew it Sam came running in and bounded up the stairs. I was told not to come up. Hmmm…suspicious. Then Mark told me they were doing something, but don’t get mad. Well. With a preface like that, I told him, I probably will get mad (turns out I didn’t – he was worried I’d be mad about wasting all the toilet paper). I am still not sure what brought on the idea, but Mark offered to make Sam into a mummy. She loved the idea, as you can see. I think she’s a pretty darn cute mummy.
She looked so adorable all made up that we decided to take her to see some decorations in the area. There are a few houses that really go crazy. Perfect backdrop for a photo, I think.
Sam started trailing toilet paper everywhere, but she still loved it. Maybe a mummy will be her costume next year….but I think we’ll use gauze or ripped up sheets instead!

Last night, Sam was being a bit difficult at bedtime. She just wasn’t listening to me. Goofing around, playing games. I got frustrated in the bathroom, so I told Sam to brush her own teeth and I went into my room. I never let her brush her own teeth because I doubt she’ll do a good enough job at this age, but last night, I just didn’t care. Sam did brush her own teeth then came in my room and asked me to check to see if she did it right. While I was checking, I noticed something white in her gums behind her bottom teeth. I thought it was just food or something, but it was the beginnings of an adult tooth! I checked and noticed that she had a loose tooth! I called to Mark to come see and he said that both teeth were loose! They certainly were. It’s going to be Tooth Fairy time soon! Sam is so happy. She feels like all her friends have had a Tooth Fairy visit but her. Well, that will change soon enough.
I did think it a little odd that I could see the adult tooth coming up in the back behind her baby teeth. Aren’t they supposed to push the baby teeth out? Of course, I did some Googling and found it is not that uncommon. It is called “shark teeth”. Eventually, the adult teeth will move forward into place. I certainly hope so. It’s way back and very crooked.
As a side note, one of those 6 year molars is finally peeking through on the bottom right. Those buggers have been giving her pain for a while, so that was a welcome sight!

Sam really wanted to play Barbie with me, but I was right in the middle of something, so I told her to start herself and I’d be along. She marched off declaring that she was going to play with Daddy. A little while longer, I came in and somehow Batman had gotten involved. I suppose that made it more enjoyable for Mark, and Sam certainly seemed to like it! Apparently, the Batman characters were dressing in Barbie clothes as disguises. As you can see, Batman is in a force field, and Batgirl, dressed as Barbara Gordon, is in disguise trying to rescue him. Robin has on Ken’s shoes so that he can stand up. The Joker is pretending to be a sweet little old lady, who is really Granny May (a villain on Word Girl) – boy are we mixing things up now. That way he can get all the money. Oh boy. I’m confused. How ’bout you?

Today was the Cougar Challenge Walk-A-Thon at Sam’s school. It is the one big fundraiser the school has so that the kids don’t have to sell things throughout the year. They ask for pledges and then walk two times around the middle school field, which is right next door. Sam was so excited the day of the event. When I dropped her off, she was thrilled by the large cougar prints in front of the school, leading the way to the walk.
We all stood on the field and watched the kids go. They all were so excited. There was loud music and lots of people cheering them on.
To make it interesting, there were fun events along the way like the limbo station…
And the hula hoops!
I was a parent volunteer and part of the official cheering section, complete with pom poms.
Thankfully, Mark was there camera in hand. Sam’s teacher, Ms. Cipolloni, noticed and thanked us later. All the teachers love having pictures of their class.
The Springfield Cougar was on hand to cheer the kids on too.
Here is Sam’s class, Ms. Cipolloni’s p.m. kindergarten!
$15,000 was the goal, and they made it. In fact, we actually found out later, they raised over $26,000 for their school! Way to go, Little Cougars!
