Today Sam noticed she has another loose tooth! This time, it’s one of her front top teeth, the one on the right. It’s just barely loose, so I think it will be a while until it comes out, but she is super excited that the tooth fairy will be coming again!

What weird weather we have been having! It has been so warm, but not every day. First it’s cold, then you barely need a coat. Yesterday was one of those days. A barely need a coat day. Sam wanted to go out and swing and how could I refuse? It was so gorgeous out! 65 degrees!
One of the things she loves most now that she is a big, brave girl, is spinning around on her swing. She likes to make it twist as much as she can then spin wildly while it unwinds. She calls it the whoopsie do da (I have no idea why), but only when she goes super high (in writing this, I had to ask her what she calls it because I couldn’t exactly remember, and she made sure I made that clarification).
I love watching her swing around with that little girl glee. It reminds me of when I was her age. I loved swinging on my swing that hung from the entrance to our garage. I must have spent hours on that white, plastic swing. Ahhh, the memories.

Mark is always looking for something to do with Sam to keep her occupied for a while that does not involve her sitting in the house watching tv. It always helps that his little activities keep her out of my hair for a while….
Mark’s most recent idea stemmed from their Christmas craft of making snowmen. We talked about how it would be a cool idea to make some sort of display item. We had an old piece of wood that stood up perfectly, so, once Mark explained to Sam what they would be doing, they got busy on the task at hand! Sam ran and got her tools and worked really hard making her snowman.
She’s pretty good with a hammer, my handy little girl!
I helped Sam assemble some random acorns, seeds and sticks from the yard to decorate him. The hat is a piece of bark. I love how she added so many details: the scarf, the basket of snowballs, and the tiny little snowman in his hand. Pretty creative, I think! Sam said his name was Otto, so I found some flexible twigs and glued his name to the display. A little poly to protect him and make him shine, and Otto is done!

Last night, Penelope must have been very cold. First, she snuggled up on Sam’s lap, which she doesn’t usually do, much to Sam’s dismay. She curls up on Mark and I all the time, but not so much on Sam. Mostly, I think it’s a combination of Sam not being able to sit still and the fact that her lap is small. Sam was so happy!
Later, when I was getting Samantha ready for bed, Penelope jumped into her pajama drawer and dug her way under all the fleece pajamas and went to sleep! It was so cute. She stayed there for a really long time, long after Sam was sleeping. It’s the little things like this that make Sam happy, and make her feel like her kitties truly love her (and they do).

One of the tasks that I took on recently was trying to clean up Samantha’s disaster of a bedroom. I did manage to get it all cleaned up, with the exception of sorting out her stuffed animals. I try to keep them organized because if I don’t, she can never find the one she wants. And she always seems to want whoever it is she is looking for at bedtime.
I figured New Year’s day was as good a time as any to clean up the stuffed animal mess, so we started by dumping all of her animal bins on the floor so we could see who she had and organize them into the three bins she keeps them in. Oh boy. I think I severely underestimated how many stuffed animals this kid has.
And this doesn’t count the bunch that are still on her bed…
Even Zach seems to be saying, “What the heck?” Well, it is a lot, but I guess I can’t blame her. I probably had just as many when I was a little girl. And I loved all mine as much as she loves hers!
Oh. We did manage to get them organized, and she rediscovered a few lost souls who had been at the bottom of the bins. Sam was thrilled to hug every single one and a new menagerie is one her bed, waiting to snuggle!
