Rainbow!

| April 26, 2016

Sam and I stayed at my mom’s for dinner tonight since Mark isn’t home. I went home after work to quickly feed the kitties then headed to my mom’s. It was yet another rainy day, but I did notice the sun coming in and out. I thought it might be a good rainbow day, but didn’t see one as I walked to my mom’s door. Later though, we were rewarded. The most vivid rainbow appeared in the sky, and stuck around for a while. Samantha was thrilled. What a beautiful gift.

Cake

| April 25, 2016

I felt the urge for cake and they had these nice little ones at the supermarket so I brought one home. Sam quickly claimed it. Um…I don’t think so. But I give her an A for effort.

Shapes

| April 23, 2016

One of Sam’s recent math homework assignments was to make shapes out of toothpicks and marshmallows or gumdrops. She was supposed to make both 2-D and 3-D shapes. We didn’t have marshmallows or gumdrops so we used jelly beans. Sam did a great job! I was very proud of all the 3-D shapes she made. She loved this assignment. She kept making bigger and bigger structures. She even made a house! She was allowed to bring a few to class to share. She couldn’t decide which she liked best, so she wound up bringing almost all of them. I told her not to worry, that I was sure her teacher would be very happy to see all her shapes.

Fish pictures

| April 22, 2016

I was guest reader today (which is so much fun you can’t believe it). When I go, I always look at the art outside the classroom. I saw a bunch of sea pictures, but not enough that there would have been one for each child in Sam’s class so before we left I asked her about them. They were a group effort with about 4 kids doing one drawing together. Since I doubt it will come home (who gets to take it?) I took a photo. They are some talented youngsters!

Sam wanted to make sure I noticed one particular fish (the orange one, of course), that she drew. Ready for your close up, Mr. Fish?

Higher and Higher

| April 21, 2016

Sam just loves climbing our dogwood tree. I have so many pictures of her in it. It’s really the only tree we have that she can climb since our maple isn’t really situated for climbing with the way the branches are. She climbed once again and did she get high! She kind of scared me a bit, but I guess, kids will be kids. She holds on tight and I guess that’s all I can ask for. I want her to be brave enough to try new things and to take some risks, but boy, it’s hard not to be a helicopter mom and beg her to get down right now!!
