One of the things Sam wants most in the world is for Penelope, our resident lap cat, to decide to sleep on her lap instead of Mark’s or mine. Well, today she got her wish. Penelope chose her! Sam couldn’t have been happier. Just look at that grin!

Sam’s tooth fairy came last night and left her $3.00. Less than for her first tooth, but more than just a regular tooth – I mean, it was a top one! That’s a biggie. She also left answers to the questions in the notes that Sam left for her. If you recall, Sam wanted to know what the tooth fairy does with all the teeth. She also wanted to know her name. We left the notes under her pillow with the tooth and lo and behold – answers! Sam is the luckiest little girl. Her tooth fairy, named Sparkle, left her these lovely notes. Now her other top tooth is loose! We’ll see what Sam wants to leave under her pillow next time…

Sam has been jiggling her top front tooth for quite some time. It was getting so loose it was annoying the heck out of her, and I could see why. I don’t know how it was even hanging on. Well, today it popped out! On picture day! At school! The trifecta! Sam was very jealous of every kid in her class who lost a tooth there because when you do, one of the teachers walks you down to the nurse who gives the kids a nifty tooth shaped necklace to hold the tooth in until they get home. Sam wanted one soooooo badly! Today she got her wish. Miss Cipolloni walked her down to the nurse and she got the coveted tooth box. She even got to show off her gap for her school photos. As soon as Sam got home we had to take some pictures of our own. Love that little gappy grin! Now it’s time for the tooth fairy to come again!

My little scientist finished her last session of Science Club at school today. She loved it! I am so glad. I know she seems to like everything in school right now, reading, math, science, computers, art, etc. I hope the love of all subjects sticks though. It often does not for math and science with girls so her joy at science club made me very happy. Each week for the session, she came home with news of their experiments and often some sort of thing they made (once it was some sort of goo, once it was a sort of homemade lava lamp). This week was the big one — the volcano!! She had a blast. Once again she renewed her wish that we make elephant toothpaste. I’m going to have to get on that one soon. She’s not likely to forget!
