Samantha really loves the little electronics projects that she and Mark have been doing. Recently, he made her a little flashlight in an Altoids type can. She absolutely loves it! The other day, we found her writing away in her journal by flashlight.
One of the more recent projects was making a “buzzer game.” It is sort of like the game Operation, for those who remember it, where you had to remove pieces from the game board without touching the sides or the game would buzz. In this version, the object is to move the wand, which has a loop that encircles the wire, around the length of the wire without touching the wire. If you touch, it buzzes. The game can be as easy or as difficult as you want it to be, depending on how complicated you make the wire path. Mark didn’t make ours too bad, just some moderate twists and turns.
Sam loves it! She really works at following the path. She does buzz quite a bit, but she tries hard. Look at that face! She is concentrating so hard.
Sam was so proud of her game, she had to show everyone in the family. Here she is trying to confound her cousin, Joey, at Aunt Maria’s birthday party.
I am so proud of how she has learned how to wire things and make things work. She understands it in a way I don’t, and probably not too many 7 year olds do!

My beautiful, grown up girl. What more can I say? I am just so in love with that face.

At least at our house! Now that Thanksgiving is over, I couldn’t wait to get the decorations up! The outside has been done for a few weeks (I took advantage of the nice weather) but I haven’t lit up our house. As soon as the inside is decorated though, look out – it’s lights time! When I told Sam we were going to decorate the house, she just about flipped out. That kid loves Christmas as much as I do, and I am so glad.
Penny was ever so helpful when I was trying to string new lights on my door wreath. Sam thought this was hysterical, of course.
My little Rudolph couldn’t resist making her kitties look ready for the season. Poor kittens. But they take it in stride, just like they always do when it comes to Sam and her shenanigans.
The cats have only had one Christmas so far and I don’t know how much they remember. Zach certainly doesn’t know what to make of Santa!
By the end of the day, the entire house was decked out in Christmas finery. It has become somewhat of an art – decorating while still keeping things safe from the crazy kitties! Our house looks very festive and bright. Now all we need is our tree and we are ready for Santa’s arrival!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! We had a great holiday. The day was more relaxed than usual for some reason, and it was full of good food and good company. Penny was ever so helpful when I was trying to set the table, much to Sam’s amusement.
Sam had fun playing with her cousins, as usual. She waited all day for them to come over! Sam loves being Ryder’s babysitter, but keeping up with him was hard for even her, I think, on this day! Look at her face! She’s exhausted and we hadn’t even eaten yet. Love it.
Sam had told me she was going to try turkey in addition to eating her carrots and I had my doubts. By the time dinner came, she chickened out. No turkey for Sam, but I did make her some chicken nuggets so she didn’t starve. I am just glad I found a kind she would eat at home instead of just McDonald’s or Chick-fil-a! Thank you, Tyson for your Dinosaur shaped Fun Nuggets. 🙂 You saved my day.

Sam had a bath and her hair was soaking wet, which is nothing new, but it has been cold and I didn’t want her walking around the house with dripping wet hair. So, I wrapped it up, Mommy style, in a towel. Sam was tickled pink! She couldn’t wait to show her Daddy how she is “just like Mommy.”
