Tyler!

We finally got a nice day and it was time for Tyler! We haven’t been there in a while so off we went. Sam needed some fresh air and so did we. We thought the treehouses weren’t open, but a hike was definitely on the agenda. It turned out, they were open! Sam was thrilled and wanted to do nothing but that, but we made her hike first.
On the way to the trail, we stopped at the chairs that Sam likes. She had to sit in all three but the big one is her favorite.
There were a number of fallen trees which, to me, are really cool to look at. When you see the gigantic root balls just sitting there on the ground, it is amazing. Sam decided she was going to be a tree herself.
This tree had a really odd branch that curled around. I said to Sam that it looked like it was saying, “Come here, I’ll give you a hug.” So we let the tree hug her!
Sam swears she saw some little bug here, but I couldn’t see it.
We tried to explain George of the Jungle to Sam, but it was lost on her. Kids…
Lots of stumps, and a good place for the whiny girl (“I’m tiiiiirrrred…..”) to rest.
Sam always goes to this treehouse that has all the books. We read a cute one together about dragons and their pet cats.
It was just about time to go and Mark got her to sit still for a few minutes to try to take some nice portraits in front of the little yellow flowers. It took a while, but she finally cooperated!
Sam said she was ready to go home, but then off she went! I swear, that kid is only tired when we are doing things she doesn’t want to do. Find something she enjoys, all the sudden she is a barrel of energy.
We did finally get her to go, but before we left, she stopped to say hi to a bunch of “snowmen” that Tyler created in the entrance. So cute and so creative! I would love to do that. How adorable would it look in front of a house for the winter?
As a reward for being good, we stopped for ice cream. Dairy Queen was open (and mobbed). Mark thought it was funny that Sam’s first trip to the ice cream shop of the season was surrounded by snow. Go figure. That’s Pennsylvania for you!
