Sam has wanted to go bowling for a while now. We always say we will take her, but we never do. I always feel like that’s one of my major mom failures – not taking her to do new things. Well, thankfully, I was saved! A girl in her class was having a birthday party at a bowling alley. Sam was thrilled! It was one of those glow bowl places and that just made it even more fun.
Sam did so well! I was floored! I mean, yes, there were bumpers up for the kids or we’d probably see nothing but gutter balls, but she was doing great. She got SO MANY SPARES. So many. And almost one strike! The speed thing cracks me up – 1.2 mph!
Midway, you can see, bumpers or no bumpers, she was kicking some butt! Sam is the one with the score of 67. Compared to everyone else, she’s a pro!
By the end of her game, she had blown everyone away. She quickly figured out that, even though she could hardly lift the thing, the heavy balls make it easier to knock pins down. After a few tries, she was hooked on this one green ball that I think weighed 12 pounds. She wouldn’t bowl one frame without it!
Sam’s lucky ball! I guess we’ll be going bowling again sometime soon! She loved it and I think I’d have fun too. Although, I wonder if they’ll let Mommy use the bumpers…..

Sam loves to play with the Jenga game that her Pop Pop made for her. Every time he comes over, they wind up playing together. As you can see, Sam does NOT like to lose! I just think the pictures are sweet. I love seeing her spend time with her grandparents, and her faces are classic.

Today we went to the Schuylkill River Trail for a nice long bike ride. It is such a perfect place for Sam to ride being that it’s long, flat and non-hilly. The weather was perfect, and Sam loved it. She didn’t complain, even though by the time we were done, she had ridden – wait for it – 6 miles! By mile 3, we knew we needed to turn around. She is getting to be a good rider, but there’s always going back that needs to be accounted for and we didn’t want to push her too far. At mile 4.5, she was starting to wonder how far we had left, but she just kept on pedaling! She is really loving the freedom of bicycling without training wheels. She already asked us if “that big bike race” will be on tv this year. We promised her that this summer, yes, we would all watch the Tour de France together. 🙂
We stopped for a water break – and a selfie!
How beautiful is this, by the river? What an amazing place to ride.
Mark and Sam just love biking together. I hope it is something they always share.

We went on a nice bike ride with Sam last night after dinner and when we got home, Sam was excited to show me how well she zooms right from the sidewalk up the driveway. This is something that, for some reason, made her very nervous before. Well, she went right up with no problem. I commented that she was getting so good on her bike and Mark said, no, she’s getting really great. Sam immediately chimed in that, yes, she was doing great and then in the funniest, most dramatic way, arms flying, said, “Goodbye, Good, Hello, Great!” She then went on to tell us (and the world) that she was the best bike rider in the world.
She is so funny when she tells her stories or says things sometimes. She is so incredibly dramatic. She uses her hands to talk all the time, and she is so expressive. I hope she always has that crazy, artistic nature.

When I was out exchanging some shoes the other day, Sam conned me into going to Busy Bees. She told me she wanted to make an Easter present for Grandmom. It was hard to say no to her little face, as usual. She decided she wanted to make a cat figurine that looks like Bella.
Here she is hard at work. We had a picture of Bella in my phone to work off of, but it only showed her front. Sam had to try to remember what the rest of Bella looked like.
She did a great job!
Grandmom couldn’t have been happier. It looks just like her Bella!
