Happy DD’s Day, DD!

Happy Father’s Day, DD! (Sam’s favorite nickname for her Daddy)

Sam worked very hard to give Mark a special day. She made him some crafty things…

…including this custom puzzle.

When she wanted to pick out a card, she chose a graduation card that said, Congratulations! on it. She added “You Won the Best Daddy in the World Award!” I thought she was very clever and very sweet.

At school, she wrote a list of all the things about her Dad that she loves.

Mark got some nice gifts, including this headphones holder.

Sam helped him with his puzzle. Daddy is not much of a puzzle doer. That’s more my thing.

Sam had a secret surprise for us. While she was at Grandmom’s the night before, she baked cupcakes. Grandmom said other than separating the eggs, Sam did the entire thing herself!

Happy Father’s Day to the best dad ever!!

Field Day

| June 5, 2018

Today Sam had Field Day at school, her first at Scenic Hills. It was such a great day for the kids. It had been postponed due to a rainy forecast (the rain never came but boy it was hot!), and thank goodness it was, because the rain date turned out to be beautiful and not too hot. Sam had a great time playing games with all her friends. There were 12 stations and the kids had a blast!

Here is Sam and one of her besties, Alaina.

This event cracked me up. Sam is one of the lighter kids so she got picked up a lot!

In a few of the events, they got a little wet, which was probably a good thing. They needed to cool off from all the running around.

That was her best javelin throw. The rest didn’t go so well… 🙂

After the events, the kids went inside and had lunch and cooled off. A little while later was the tug of war. Classes competed against each other, grade by grade, and Sam’s class won both of their events!

Sam had told me that Baby Ann’s field day was the same day, and so to goof with her, I took some pictures before she got home. 😉 Baby Ann did very well in all her events!

She may be 8

But she will always be my baby.

Pieces that is. Mark and Sam have been working on assembling this Lego set of the Apollo Saturn V for a while now. He got it for Christmas and we knew it would take a long time because of the number of pieces, and also how complex it is. As any Lego builder knows, for bigger sets, and even some not so big sets, the pieces are in numbered bags so that you don’t have a mass of pieces all at once to work with. You follow the instructions and open the bags in stages. This set had 12 bags. That’s a lot! They worked on it on and off for months, but finally finished it. Congratulations! That’s the biggest Lego set either one of them has assembled!
