Out with the old, in with the new

| July 27, 2018

Ever since we painted the living room and hallway, Sam has had the painting bug. She asked me if she could paint her room. Just the walls, not the ceiling because she still loves her clouds. She really wanted coral walls instead of green. I figured, why not, it’s been the same color since before she was born and she is entitled to her own opinion about her room. She chose coral because it is her new favorite color. She always said orange was her favorite and pink was her second favorite, and coral is really just a combination of the two so it makes sense.

She worked really hard painting and learned how to roll pretty well.

We moved her furniture around with the primary intention of giving her room for a nightstand, which she has really wanted for a long time. Now she has one!

Our other goal is to clean up her room a bit because she wants it less cluttered and more “grown up”. I bought her an over the door shoe rack to house all her tiny stuffed animals. It got a few bins off the floor. She loves it! She said it’s like a toy store over there. It certainly is…

We put up her decals, hung some shelves and it’s coming along really nicely!

Sam loves it and that is all that matters. She can’t wait to show it off to all her friends!

Summer Camp at Tyler

| July 22, 2018

Sam had a really good camp week at Tyler this year. I was a little worried after the fiasco that was last year, but they seemed to have their act together and all went well. She had a great week. On the last day when I picked her up, she wanted to take a little stroll around, which was fine. In particular, she wanted to visit a few of the tree houses we hadn’t been to in a while that they went to during camp. This one in particular was her favorite because it is shaped like a guitar. She swears that the design is new and that it didn’t look like that before and after arguing with her for a while that it definitely did and she just doesn’t remember, I gave up. It is impossible to argue with her. Her guitar lessons are going really well, she is making some real progress, and finding this tree house just blew her mind!

Happy Birthday, GG!

| July 17, 2018

Happy Birthday to Sam’s GG (when Grandmom became, GG, I am not sure, but that is Sam’s name for her now). What can I say? Sam is the luckiest little granddaughter in the world. Her GG would do anything for her. She would do anything for our family. And I hope that we tell her enough that we love her and appreciate all that she does.

Sam always wants to do something special for everyone, she is never happy giving gifts that are from all of us. When we were out, she chose this frame. She asked me to take a special picture to put in it. From the smile on GG’s face, I think she loves it!

After all the gifts were opened, Sam decided it was time for a wrapping paper fight. Grandmom got the best of her though!

Or maybe Sam won….

Happy, happy birthday Grandmom from both of your girls!

Guitar

| July 14, 2018

So….this happened. Sam and Mark are going to take guitar lessons together! Mark really wants her to try music in some way, and Sam has mentioned trying guitar, so off they went to the music store so she could look at some instruments. Guitar it is! They are signed up for 3 months of weekly lessons. Here we go!

Our future rock star. 🙂

Trimming her Locks

| July 11, 2018

My gorgeous girl got her haircut today!  She really didn’t want a haircut, but it was getting a little bit tangly every day, which is what always happens when it needs to be cut, so I told her if she wants a hair wrap at the beach, she needs a haircut first, otherwise, I will make her get a haircut before school starts and out the wrap comes. That pretty much did it. She wants a hair wrap in the worst way, so haircut it is. She looks amazing, as always!

While we were driving home, she was playing with my phone. I guess her bestie, Boo Boo, wanted a picture too!
