Christmas Crackers

| December 16, 2018

Every year for a while now I have had to buy Sam Christmas crackers. She first saw them on Peppa Pig (they are a British tradition) and loves them. Each cracker has a small toy, a joke, and a paper crown. There is not much to say about them other than that, but Sam makes us all wear the crowns and we thought at least one photo was worth posting! Happy Christmas! (as the Brits say!)

Holiday Tea

| December 12, 2018

Sam’s annual holiday concert went off without a hitch. I volunteered to be a lunch helper so that I could be in the school super early to get a good seat. It fills up so fast! Here is Sam with her besties, Zoe and Natalia.

I was randomly contacted by the person in charge of yearbook to ask if I could take photos of the third grade tea for the yearbook because they had no one to cover, so of course I said I would! I had emailed her some photos last year for some event and I guess she remembered that I take decent photos. I asked Mark to help me, obviously, and the best part was that we were allowed to go down the hallway where the kids line up before the concert to take a bunch of pictures. The kids were so darn cute! They were all excited and ready to go. Here are some of Sam’s class.

There were so many third graders that they don’t all fit on the stage, so one class (Sam’s unfortunately) had to stand off to the side on a riser. Because the window is behind them and the sun was beaming through, and because there was a boy who kept standing in front of her, we really didn’t get one decent picture of Sam singing, and she sang her little heart out! After the concert we were able to go up and take some pictures though, which was nice.

Sam and her friend, Natalia, were giggling and chatting between every song.

Hopefully, next year Sam will be in a better place. This is the first year she has not literally been in the front row where we could see her perfectly. Boo!

Cookies!

| December 9, 2018

Once again, my mom and I baked a million cookies for Christmas, and of course, when she could, Sam helped out. These are a few of her masterpieces. Now if I could only get her to actually eat the darn things….

Gingerbread House Time

| December 9, 2018

Last night we finished Sam’s gingerbread house! This is the first year we got adventurous and baked it ourselves. It turned out to be easier than I thought. We assembled it one night and then decorated it another. The cookie cutters I have are bigger than I remember, so the house was way bigger than the ones I generally buy. We had a hard time getting the roof to not make the house collapse, but Mark helped with some creative engineering, and it worked!

Once it was time to decorate, we all chipped in (as much as Sam would let us). She likes to do it herself most of the time.

She could decorate a house for hours with all the detail she puts into it.

I love this little gingerbread girl. What is KC you might ask? Oh, it’s her Kohl’s cash! Sam knows Mommy likes Kohl’s!

Go, Speed Racer Go!

This is her sledding hill, complete with gingerbread people on saucers.

Mark made this really cool merry-go-round, one of the few details we were allowed to add.

We had so many decorations because I am always buying them that Sam didn’t know what the heck to do with them all! Oh well, there is always next year.

Here are some pics of the various sides. I think she did an amazing job. (Don’t mind the huge crack in the roof…oops!)

Penny and Zach could not figure out what the heck we were doing, so, cats being cats, they had to investigate!

Lights, Lights and More Lights

| December 9, 2018

We made our annual trek into Philadelphia to see the Macy’s light show. I really didn’t know how we were going to make it because so many of our weekends were full, but Sam really wanted to go, so we went. We spent probably an hour and a half tops there though, no shopping, no lunch, just the Dickens village and the light show and we were outta there!

I can’t believe how big she is getting! This pic is from our first year there in 2012:

It was a bit chilly waiting in the endless line for Dickens village (or the puppets, as Sam always calls them), so she borrowed GG’s sweater!

I cannot believe how big Sam is getting next to these doors now too! She used to be able to fit right through them!

The show was mobbed, as usual, so we stayed off to the side to get a better view.

See ya next year!
