Sam’s first shots : (
Posted By pamelamyers on November 22, 2009
On Thursday, November 19, Sam went to the doctor for her 2 month visit. Everything was going as usual — she was happy until I undressed her and laid her on the table, but she quickly calmed down. I am happy to report that my little munchkin is now 9 pounds, 13 ounces and is 22.5 inches! It is hard to believe she is almost 10 pounds since she is still such a tiny little baby. The doctor said she is growing perfectly : ) Then came the awful part….the beginning of her vaccines. She had to get 3 shots and some drops. The doctor gave her the drops first which she actually seemed to love and even the first shot she didn’t even flinch. The doctor told me that the next one would be worse because they don’t even seem to register the first shot, but by the second one they do. Boy did she register that shot! I never, ever heard Sam scream like she did then. It was so horrible!! She was crying so loud that she couldn’t even breathe and her face was turning purple : ( I felt so bad for her. All I could do is stroke her head while she was getting her shots and then wrap her in a soft blanket and hug her when it was over. Even the doctor said that Sam’s cry is probably the biggest one she will hear all day. Thankfully, she stopped crying pretty quickly after I started hugging her. She did pretty well at home. She was a little fussy, but she ate and went to sleep ok that night. I thought it might be a long night with her waking up every few hours, but she slept really well. I think the Tylenol helped a lot (she also seems to really like Tylenol — a new flavor (cherry) must be exciting after eating nothing but formula). For the last few days she has been really stuffy and snotty, which I hope is just a reaction to all the shots. Poor baby is sneezing like crazy. If she is not better, or starts showing any other symptoms, I guess I am calling the doctor on Monday…..

Hope Sam is feeling better by the time you read this. Question: How can this be her 4 month visit when she isn’t quite 2 months old? Was that a typo?
Oops! It was a typo! I made her 4 month visit appointment while I was there. Glad you caught that…I updated the post! She seems to be feeling a little better today. She slept better (we ran the vaporizer) and only was sneezing this morning.
