Goodbye, Poppy. We love you.

Posted By on March 5, 2016

I don’t know how I am even able to write this post, but it has to be done. Samantha would want me to, and he deserves that much. Two days ago, on March 3, 2016, Samantha’s Poppy died. We are all sort of in shock, numb, really. He had health issues, but even so, it seemed to happen so fast. Truthfully, he was in the hospital not much more than a week, and was expected to go home. I feel like in Samantha’s short life, she has had to say goodbye too many times. To her Mom Mom, to so many little cats she loved so dearly. And now to her Poppy, her bosom buddy. They spent so much time together while Samantha was with her Grandmom and Poppy while I work. I am so grateful that she got to have that relationship with him. That she got to be the apple of his eye. That she got to bring him so much joy, and he her. That she is old enough to hold on to the memories they made. They had a special relationship. He would have done just about anything for my little girl. It breaks my heart that she has lost him. I have no more words. Just that we miss you already. Samantha will be bereft, but don’t worry, Poppy, we will take good care of this little girl. Always.
