Happy 3-month birthday, Sam!
Posted By pamelamyers on December 23, 2009
I can’t believe that my little Samantha is 3 months old already. The time has flown by so fast. Everyone always tells me to enjoy every minute because it will be over before you know it and she will be so grown up and they are right. She seems so big compared to when she was born (even though she is still pretty little). Sam has changed so much since she was born. She is so much more aware now, she has such a personality, and every day it seems she learns or does something new. Christmas is only 2 days away, and she is just the best present I could ever have hoped for. I’m glad Santa delivered her early so I can enjoy her on Christmas day 🙂
This morning, we were in her room and she was smiling and talking to me, and the house was so quiet except for the two of us and I just marvelled at how perfect she is and how lucky I am. Being a mom is the best job in the entire world. Even the worst days are pretty darn good. I am so grateful that I am able to have this experience. In the three months I have gotten to know Samantha, I have learned a lot, about her, and about myself. Therefore, I have created the following list:
Things Being Sam’s Mom Has Taught Me
1. Time is fleeting, so enjoy each minute for what it is. Find something good in every moment.
2. Know what is important and don’t get caught up in the non-essentials. It’s not worth it.
3. A baby’s smile can make even the saddest person happy.
4. Knowing how to instantly make my child stop crying makes me feel smarter and more competent than any task I could ever perform at work.
5. A hug can fix anything.
6. Being thin and having a flawless body are overrated. My c-section scar and any leftover weight are things to be proud of. This body nurtured and brought my child into the world. It is amazing.
7. The world can be pretty great and people can be kind. You just have to let them.
8. Never give up hope. Miracles do happen when you least expect them.
9. Family and friends are essential. Lean on them, and appreciate anything they can do for you.
10. You can have it all. Not necessarily at the same time, but you can have it all. So enjoy what you have when you have it.
Thank you, Sam. You have changed my life forever.
