Breakfast with Santa

Posted By on December 3, 2016

Today Sam had breakfast with Santa at school. Last year the school hosted the same event and we didn’t go since we already have so much to do at the holidays. This year, I was up in the air about whether to go when Sam came home one day and announced she wanted to go. Wait. What? How did she even know? Oh, great. Her teacher mentioned it. Thanks a lot….Anyway, we signed her right up and I am glad we did. She had such fun!

Mark was smart and said the first thing we should do was visit Santa since we didn’t want to get caught in an endless line. Sam wanted to immediately head toward crafts, but Mark managed to swing her to Santa. I’m glad we did because there was a line already but we weren’t too far back. Santa asked Sam what she wanted and if she had written him a letter. She told him she hadn’t yet and Santa reminded her that there was a letter writing station right there at the school. Doesn’t my little elf look adorable?

After seeing Santa, we headed to the craft tables. Sam took her crafts to do at home instead of there at school, which we thought was a smart move. Right after crafts was face painting. Sam had seen one of her classmates with a candy cane, so that is what she got.

We went to the letter writing station next to make sure that Santa knew what she wanted! Luckily, there was some handy forms there for the kids to fill out the appropriate spaces. It certainly makes it easier!

Here is Sam’s letter. She told Santa she wants a Puppy Surprise, some electronics kits and doll house people. I assured her that Santa would know she meant the ones dressed in summer clothes. He is a pretty smart cookie, that Santa Claus.

She quick popped it into the special North Pole mailbox, then we went off to the next station. She got a temporary tattoo (we grabbed some extras for home) and then we went to find some food.

Breakfast was donuts, some fruit and some cereal. Sam was happy to get some milk and Mommy was happy to find the coffee!

After we ate, Sam asked if she could have her other cheek painted. This time she opted for a Santa hat.

Last stop was a photo station. Say Jingle Bells everyone! I asked Sam why she wasn’t smiling and she told me, “Elves don’t smile.” Well, there you go.

We kept bumping into Sam’s friend Adeline the whole day, so we had to get a cute pic.

On the way out, we asked Sam to pose with some of her favorite inflatables. She looks adorable, I must say. I am so glad we decided to go. Sam had so much fun and it is fun for us to see how excited she is. Christmas certainly is about the kids, isn’t it? It really takes you back to when you were young to see the joy in the kids’ eyes. I never want that joy and light for Christmas to fade. I hope we can hang on to it for as long as possible. There’s nothing like it.
