Autumn in Springfield

This past weekend, we took Sam outside to enjoy the crisp fall air and to check out the falling leaves. Every time we go to a park, Sam is obsessed with picking up fallen leaves, so we thought she would enjoy doing it in her own yard. I have to say, she really had a great time initially, when we just sort of had her sitting in the grass. I can’t get over how big she looks now. She is such a little girl and not a baby anymore. We love her little skinny jeans! So grown up.
This is just the cutest face I have ever seen. You can’t see in this photo, but she has at least five teeth coming in, all on the top. The poor little baby has been teething really bad.
Later on, Mark raked together a huge pile of leaves in our back yard and we tried to stick Sam in it. Wow, was she freaked out. We totally didn’t expect it to scare her so much but she just cried and cried. It took a lot of coaxing, and a long time with me sitting holding her in the leaves for her to relax enough to see how incredibly fun a big pile of crinkly leaves can be. Eventually, she learned that it was actually great fun!
There were a few really humongous leaves back there, I can’t even imagine what tree they came from they were such monsters, but we kept handing them to her. It was like she had gold!
Mark got in on the fun too. He kept throwing the leaves in the air so they would tumble down around Sam. She looked so cute when they would fall on her and she’d get tickled.
As you can see, by the end of our little photo op, she was really enjoying herself and discovered that leaf piles aren’t so bad after all. I think next year when she is really running around, she will so love jumping in the big pile we rake together for her amusement.

Love the last photo. She is such a mini Mark.
