Sam and Zephyr

Posted By on April 17, 2011

Sam, as I have mentioned, loves the kitties, both ours and my mom’s.  She never really gets to touch Zephyr that much, but she is always trying.  Of all the cats, my mom’s cat Blackie, is the most amenable to being petted and even hugged.  Muffin always liked Sam when she was a baby (I think they’d get along great now if he was still with us).  Bella, my mom’s other cat, doesn’t really like or dislike Sam, she just sort of doesn’t care one way or another, but that being the case, she doesn’t spend a lot of time with Sam.  Zephyr, well….I think Zephyr likes Sam in general, but is a little jealous of Sam, which is not surprising.  She has always been a bit of a princess and doesn’t like us paying too much attention to anyone but her.  Sam has being trying so hard to pet Zephyr and hug her. We have really been working with Sam to teach her how to properly pet animals, and Zephyr has been getting a lot better at letting Sam touch her which is very sweet.

This morning Sam was sitting in our bay window watching the squirrels eating the bread we threw out when Zephyr shocked all three of us by jumping up into the window to join her!

As you can see, Sam was so excited!  Zephyr was doing her cat best to look bored and nonchalant.

I am hopeful that they will be great friends.  As long as Sam can keep her little mitts off of Zephyr’s tail….

I think it is time to get Sam a kitten to bond with.

I think Sam would love a kitten! But I don’t know if a kitten would love her! Actually, the bigger problem would be Zephyr. Poor Zephyr has had a lot of upheaval first with Sam being born, then with Muffin passing away, that we feel like Zephyr needs some time being the only cat, and thus, getting more of our attention. Someday though Sam will have another cat. I was 3 when I got my first cat and it was awesome.
