Happy Birthday, Mark!
Posted By pamelamyers on May 13, 2011
Yesterday was Mark’s 39th birthday and although we both had to work we tried to make the evening fun and festive. After a nice pasta dinner at home, Mark opened presents and we had cake.
The gift opening had to be interrupted because Sam wanted her daddy to look at her favorite word book with her.
Sam was surprisingly not that interested in opening presents, but she was all about the cake! She always likes birthday cakes. I think the combination of the candles and the singing are appealing to her.
Sam was kind enough to feed her daddy some cake. Apparently, he was not eating fast enough! She has actually started doing that a lot lately — feeding us. I find the role reversal cute. We are so used to feeding her, and now she is returning the favor.
Sam has never liked chocolate, but we keep trying. Our little girl has to like chocolate (it is in her genes). She was really grabby with the birthday candles and we finally gave her a few after Mark blew them out. She licked the frosting right off! We were happy that after a very tentative bite…she ate her cake!
Sam’s obsession with jewelry is not limited to mommy’s jewels, obviously. I love the look on her face like she is saying, “Daaaaddy….you love me, right? You wouldn’t mind if I took that, right?”
And one last picture, last but certainly not least, of Mark with his other little girl, Zephyr.
Happy, happy birthday, Mark! I feel so lucky that I was able to spend your last year with you and I can’t wait to see what the next has in store. You are such a great dad and Sam and Zephyr know it. And I definitely know it. Raising our little girl with you has been wonderful and every year will only be better and better. We love you!

Happy Birthday, Mark. I like that Sam is wearing her (or is it Pam’s) blue necklace.
That would be my necklace that Sam stole!
