Mommy’s little helper

Sam has become such a good little assistant.  She really likes to help out with whatever you are doing.  She gives me big handfuls of clothes when I am doing laundry, she unloads the dishwasher, she puts her clothes in the hamper and she is always picking up things off of the floor for us to put in the trash.  She even likes to help with Zephyr.  She likes to put the ice in Zephyr’s water bowl and she is always picking up the food bowls off the floor and putting them into the little wooden holder that Zephyr uses to elevate her food.  Last week, actually, Sam kept pulling me to the freezer and she wanted an ice cube. I couldn’t imagine why until I gave one to her and she ran right over and put it in Zephyr’s water.  She is so sweet.

Lately, she has also started helping outside.  I pulled a bunch of weeds the other day from around our trees and she helped me put everything into the trash bag.  My latest project was trimming back the ivy that has become a huge monster around our light post.  I was in the middle of cutting and I heard Mark say, “give it to mommy” and the next thing I knew Sam was running down the driveway trash bag in hand.  She wouldn’t stop holding it out to me until I took it from her. But that isn’t enough — I asked her to help me put all of the cut ivy into the trash bag and she was very happy to assist!  Now if I could only ensure that she would be just as happy to help when she is a teenager, that would be great!
