Father’s Day Festivities

Here are some of the pictures from Father’s Day.  I had all of Mark’s presents nicely piled up on our coffee table.  Someone ever so helpfully threw them on the floor.  Is that an “uh oh” face, or what?

Sam could not wait to tear into the gifts.  She has the most mischievous smile.  I told her to wait for Daddy but she wasn’t having it.

Sam is so good at opening presents now.  It is such a big change even from Christmas.

Mark needed some new clothes so that was most of his gifts.

I don’t think Mark got to actually open one gift.

Sam had this shirt custom made for her Daddy.

Daddy’s little helper. 🙂

We’ve moved to the couch.  Wait!  There are MORE presents?!

The last box was a new iPod. I think that’s the only gift Mark opened himself.

This was Mark’s last gift – Sam’s buried treasure.  We recently had a new step and walkway put in and with all the digging to lay the new concrete, we have a lot of loose dirt.  Sam was playing, of course, and found this quarter, her buried treasure.  Mark wanted to keep it because (a) Sam found it so it makes it special and (b) because it is a 1972 quarter, his birth year. Well, of course Sam dropped it and we looked everywhere and couldn’t find it.  Mark was pretty sure he knew the general area where she must have lost it, but no luck.  Later that night while Mark was busy I went outside to see if I could find it and I could not believe my luck, but I did!  Sam and I put it in a nice ring box and wrapped it up special.  She was happy to share her treasure with her Dad.

I wrote a Happy Father’s Day message outside in chalk for Mark while we were playing with Sam, but she thought it needed some embellishment, hence, the purple.  I think it looks a lot better than what I drew, don’t you think?
