4th of July parade
Posted By pamelamyers on July 9, 2011
This July 4 we took Sam to her very first parade. Springfield has a lot of parades but we have never gone to any before. We thought that now that Sam is getting older, we had better get more in tune with the various festivities because she will like going. I am glad we went because I think she had a really good time.
Here we are enjoying the stroller parade. Sam had her stroller but she didn’t march, we just watched.
A lot of the marchers were tossing out candy as they went. Sam got a lollipop (actually, quite few!)
I wasn’t sure how she’d like the music from bagpipes, but she seemed ok with the noise.
The Republican Party elephant was a big hit! I don’t think she knew quite what to make of such a large animal. She has never seen anything in person bigger than a horse.
After the parade, we went to the park and Sam ate some soft pretzels, got a balloon and listened to the band. We couldn’t stay long though since naptime was quickly approaching. Oh well, there’s always the next holiday parade!
