An early taste of summer

Posted By on April 16, 2012

We had such amazing weather in the last few days that we spent a ton of time outside.  Sam was playing with Mark and he got out a chair to sit in.  Somehow, she saw this chair in our shed and not only knew what it was when it was all folded up, but she immediately claimed it as her own.  She calls it “Sammy’s chair”.  I think she looks adorable all ready for the summer in her new hot pink hat.

Sam is pretty good at putting on most shoes and her socks but every time she gets a new pair it is a challenge for her to figure out just how the straps go.  This is the first time she put on these new sandals this year and you can see how hard she is concentrating on getting it right.

Yes, success!

Mark thinks in this picture she looks so grown up because the look on her face and her pose just says, “oh, come on dad! no more photos!”

On one of my days home with Sam it hit close to 90 degrees so after about an hour at the playground (where I thought we would both melt) I took her home but she still wanted to go outside.  I asked her if she wanted to go in her pool and she couldn’t wait!  I was curious to see how she would do because last year, for some reason, she wouldn’t actually get in, she just liked to stand outside of it and splash around.  This time she climbed right in even though I am sure the water from the hose was freezing (actually, I know it was because I stuck my feet in).  She was funny — I asked her if I could put my feet in and she yelled, “No, too big!” but she gave in and let me get wet.

She kept climbing in and out and sat with me in her chair to have a snack.  I love this — my little bathing beauty.  I can just imagine her at the pool this summer.  She will be hanging out like such a big girl.

I love the bathing suit. Did Sam actually sit down in the pool or just stand in it?

She squatted. Didn’t actually sit. But I have faith that she will next time!

She really looks the part lying on the sunlounger with a drink and snacks. Even her swimsuit, and glasses match the sunlounger.

I never realized she has so many teeth now. The photo DSC_4894 really shows them off.

Can’t wait to see you guys again. Hopefully at least one more time before I retire. Still got the spare bedroom on alert ready for you all.
