Ahhh…Post Christmas Relaxation

Christmas is always so much fun with Sam, but let’s face it. Whew, it is exhausting! There is so much to do, and so many people to see. We are up early, running around, trying to fit everything in. The days following Christmas are often more enjoyable because they are days off when we can simply “be”. Together, as a family, enjoying the holidays. Here is how we spent our days.
The morning after Christmas, I woke up early with Sam. She immediately wanted to get into her Cinderella dress and then she started playing Lego. I think this picture is so cute. Our little girly girl playing with her building toys.
As soon as Mark woke up, she had him set up her car track. She had been dying to race cars ever since she opened her gift. Mark told her that they could race down the stairs so, of course, that is what they had to do first. She still had on her Cinderella dress and added her superhero costume on top of it. I think it’s a pretty great combo – a superhero princess. I mean, if she has to be a princess, at least she’s saving herself.
Her car won the last race, as if you couldn’t tell by her excitement.
A few days later, Sam had Mark racing again. This time, she decided to be a tunnel for her cars to go through.
No Cinderella costume, but a tiara….
Sam is going to be so disappointed when we all go back to our routine of work and school. She is having so much fun. Believe me, Sammy, we will all be sad too.
A gift she was really excited to try was her easel that Mom Mom and Pop Pop got her. She is very artistic and is drawing and painting and crafting all the time. Sam couldn’t wait to dive into the paint.
Our little artist busy at work. She kept telling me I wasn’t allowed to look until she was done, but I snuck a few peeks. When Sam paints she gets very intent on what she is doing and she doesn’t really notice what is going on around her.
The finished masterpiece! Sam told us it was a snowman making a snow angel. Pretty good, if I do say so.
And the artist with her work. 🙂 We are so incredibly proud of her.
One of our gifts was matching pajamas. Here we are modeling! Sam even let me put her hair up in a clip just like mine.
I really do need to cherish these days. Someday, the thought of me wearing clothes that even remotely resemble anything she would wear will make Sam ill. But for now, she thinks it is the coolest thing ever. I hope she doesn’t grow up too fast.
